Sorry to hear about your son Greez, that's nuts! I know the operation is very routine though, I've known others who have had to have that done. He'll be fine.
No, the Catholic Church has faith that is touching. You're right though... I should tell Greez the truth... Sorry G, they're going to slip with the chainsaw and cut off your kids legs by accident... Don't worry though, wheel chairs are pretty inexpensive these days... ... Was that better? On a more serious note... Wish the kid all the best, I'm sure he'll be fine.
are they **** decent chair will set you back a minimum of £1500.00 though more likely £2000.00. PS i'm sure the lad will be fine really.
Sorry. I forgot you were in a wheelchair. I didn't mean anything insensitive by that remark. That was a poor example for me to make. Is that for a basic chair with no motor at that price, or is that a motorised one?
Milk i didn't think the remark insensitive just incorrect (at least in UK) Mind you i wouldn't be surprised to see they cost half that in US. That price gets you a lightweight "active" self propelling chair like this Though for a rigid chair like that ,having just looked it , now appears you will be lucky not to spend £2500 though thankfully for a personal buyer it would be exempt from VAT.
I actually have no idea how much they cost here, I was just playing around with the "surgery going wrong" and a fake silver lining thing. I'd be willing to bet they cost more in the US. All medical supplies are hugely inflated here. That surprises me they cost so much though, and I suspect it comes down to scalable economics. Obviously there are differences, but you would expect a lot of technology overlap with a bicycle (or at least, I would). The frame construction, wheels etc, can't be that different can they? £1500 would be a pretty premium bicycle. You would think a bicycle manufacturer could make a chair in the hundreds... Not going into the thousands... They're either gouging, or just don't have the same economies of scale to work with.
I haven't had much fun with walking lately... I think I mentioned throwing my back out back in early March... When my back got better the hip pain came instead. Been dealing with pain when I walk or stand ever since (so I've been on my bum the last 4 months+). Been injected, put on anti inflammatory, steroids, sent to physical therapy, now I'm on a stronger anti inflammatory, still no improvement. Its going to drive me to drinking and starting a thread about the people I meet at the bar.
how good a discount tbf last time the NHS in my area had such a good deal with sunrise that i ended up with them supplying my chair as the voucher offer was £500 up to a max of £600 yet they would supply me with an Argon (list price at the time £1750) with maintenance . PS the maintenance part is outsourced and ****ing useless plus they have now also outsourced the supply decision which clearly means bizarre decisions in my experience.
I have commented before on the bike comparison since they should be more expensive due to gears mechanisms alone They are gouging as in effect there are only 2 major manufacturers but yes they don't have same economies of scale. PS i'm willing to bet they are cheaper over there with the proviso i don't know the tax situation over there.
You may actually be right... if that is the QRI model, on spinlife.com they are listed MSRP of $1895 but their price is $1231. Now US prices never include sales tax so if you're being 100% legal and recording your sales tax that would be another 10% give or take a few % depending on county, city and state... Still, you'd probably end up paying in dollars the same amount you quote in pounds... So UK slightly more expensive. I did see Walmart sells some significantly less ($200 or thereabouts) but I'm guessing those aren't the same thing, those are for short term use by people who break a leg or something.
oh you can get cheap wheelchairs here but they are all poor copies of an Everest & Jennings from post second world war though with the addition of quick release wheels.
