That's what I'm currently wearing. The mrs (nm) got them for me at Christmas but on their last legs now (I wear them all the time though)

I wash them at least once a week!

Looking for a new motor atm...

Want an estate (three kids, a dog and lots of footy / karate equipment) that's less than ten years old, as low mileage (<80k) and still looks a bit sporty for under £6k. Fair to say, this isn't a easy find... <laugh>

I'm considering the "VW Golf Sportwagen" for my next car, not a lot of options for Estates in the US, it's all SUVs and Trucks. Not made up on VW reliability, I tend to avoid European cars because of the bad reliability... But it seems more practical than the other estates available in the US and the only one that comes with a manual transmission.

My oldest is 15 and old enough to get a permit here in the US but shows no interest in driving, he will probably inherit my current car when he does.

3 kids in three different schools (and never will be in same school again most likely) zero public transportation options available to us to get them to school, a third driver in the house would help out now the Mrs. is working and can't spend all the day delivering children all across town.

I'm also interested in the VW Tarok if released here... Looks interesting... An Estate/Pick up hybrid... Mini bed that extends into second row seat if you need it. Not impractical like most pick ups... Would be useful for transporting mulch or wet kayaking gear.

yanks without licenses are an abomination.

some kids here can get by very easily slinging like mine as I am sitting waiting... 12 minutes now late coming out of work... again.

Unless you live in NYC you need a car. Public transportation is very weak. You need a car.

We live in a school choice district (which is great because the school we are zoned for otherwise is awful). The bad thing is, that means no school buses. We have to pay people to bring kids home for us...

Depends if you want more space in the car or just a bigger boot. It's still essentially a VW Golf in terms of seat size and car width.

I'm liking the Focus Estate or Volvo V50 / V60

meh.. get something decent. someone will be along shortly with experience of proper ones.

problem is.... we are all on the edge of the diesel is death era where diesel.is taxed off roads so price is dropping rapidly for cars imo.

you wont find hybrid versions of big arsed cars easily either. rare and most are suv

I was more pointing out that a 10 second search found a car fitting the initial criteria - which didn't include make - so there's hope for the lad getting a motor for his budget. <cool>

I don't usually have the whole family in my car at once, so big enough for me. I prefer how smaller cars drive.

I normally take the wife's SUV If all in at once. I want an estate mainly for bikes/kayaks.

I can, and have, fit everyone in my tiny Honda Fit before... Not that it has ideal backseat space. Volvo's are ridiculously expensive over here. You couldn't get a reliable used one in your price range.
