One would hope it might stop the spontaneous purchases by nuisance cases who want to let them off anti-socially. Those responsible people who use the for bonfire and new years parties would be able to buy next years allocation in that window or would already have them. I don't think they're the sort of people terrorising people for weeks in the run up to Halloween and the 5th letting off bangers and firing them at houses and animals etc. I don't think retail would suffer that much anyway as most people don't buy fireworks other than close to those dates and nowadays usually from special shops, many of which seem to appear around the time and then close up after till next year.

For me those letting them off are letting off ****e ones they've been ought cos they would waste the good ones if not.

In other words their ****wit parents indulge them.

You don't see a big display each night of the good uns do you.

One moron in our estate does a display at his house (without moving his car) but he only does it on the night.

We watch safely from our front window cos one of these years one is going to set off and kill a kid or something.

As far back as I can remember young lads have bought fireworks early and tormented people with them. Putting bangers through letter boxes was common. They used to be one called ric-rac or something similar that when lit and placed on the ground would follow you around. Lads would buy them and wait for young girls coming out of the shops and set them off to watch the girls run screaming away.

Dogs Trust run a free course to desensitise dogs to fireworks and other loud noises, find your local place and use it.

I don't mind fireworks if it is just for a day or so... But any firework event around here people are setting them off every night for weeks.

I'm sure it doesn't do wildlife or petlife any good. Certainly disrupts my ability to sleep

No, seems to be the same to me. I think regulations what they can sell varies state to state though. A number of states dont even allow fireworks. Guns yes... But not fireworks.

Things like Kinder eggs... Clotted cream... And fireworks are too dangerous for this gun toting nation and are verboten.

I actually wouldn't mind if fireworks were banned in my state too though. <laugh>

No clotted cream isn't allowed anywhere in the US because it doesn't pass American pasteurisation laws.

Devonshire tea is illegal in the US.

    Rip-raps, as RHC says above.

Seems crazy now, but as kids we used to light bangers and throw them at each other or stick them in each others pockets. We'd stuff them in the ventilation holes in the inspection plates on lamp-posts in the hopes of bringing them down, or in between bricks pretending they were dynamite sticks.

I heard about kinder eggs before. Can’t remember the season though. Is it something to do with the toy inside?
