Oh and on that rant...do you remember when the one phone was in the hall and you went to it to have a conversation.

Now someone gets a call on their mobile they just answer it and start talking e.g. in a full living room.

My mother-in-law is the worst for that.

Mid conversation, mid sentence, mid dinner, even mid bite of food... Doesn't matter... Phone rings she cuts off anyone talking and answers it immediately.

I use my phone a lot (not for talking) but if I could uninvent any invention... No question the smart phone immediately springs to mind. I hate them. I'd also like to uninvent social networking.

    / I love my phone... It's everyone else's I hate

    That is really ****ing annoying.
I hate the fact that everyone feels obliged to answer their phone wherever and whenever it rings. RHC will bear testament to the fact that I don't do that. :)
And before anyone points it out:

what happens if you were out with mates and you're daughter (presuming you have one) who never phones you because she's grown up and doesn't care about daddy anymore suddenly rings up?

I have one, and she is grown up, but we're in contact a lot.
Depending on the circumstances, I'd either answer and say "can I ring you back later?" or send a text to that effect. If I really wanted to speak to her I'd go out of the room.
If you were in a social situation, talking to someone and someone else came along and demanded their attention, then they both ignore you completely, would that be ok?

I was reading an article not too long ago... It was this one woman bitchy woman complaining about modern dating. One of her complaints made me chuckle. She whined that she wanted a man who didn't spend most of a date playing with his phone.

Made me chuckle. Obviously haven't dated in years being married, but I would think it obvious, if you're on a date turn your phone completely off. (My age, hope never have to date again... But if I did would have to leave phone on for kids... But then it would be on silent and in my pocket).

Amuses me anyone would be looking at a phone on a date.

I've spent an hour trying to get 3 sets of hinges off a door, buggers have been painted over so many times there is no slot for the screwdriver to bite in. Got 1 off, the other two have 1 screw in each which just will not budge. Given up for tonight and will have another go tomorrow. Worrying thing is this is the first of 16 doors I have to paint and put new hinges on!

Simply turn the whole door in an anti-clockwise fashion <diva>

Try tightening it first, often loosens the screw

Failing that, rip the ****er off and fill the holes with match sticks. If its only one of the three holes per hinge it'll be fine

Helps if you pour petrol all over the frame before putting the matchsticks in too. Makes the matchsticks swell to fill the holes.

Might just buy new doors and get someone to fit them, the time it's taking I could earn enough working to do that.

I should probably explain to @Red Hadron Collider that it was a joke and not to do that, shouldn't I.
