New Force India car is out. Fin on top of the engine cover looks horrible. The wedge where the nose lowers is also unattractive but the tip is a better solution than on the Renault
this one is an absolute slapped arse of a car and looks really really poor. i am willing to bet it will be well down the grid. that fin looks like it was stuck on about 2 days ago reacting to another launch.
car looks that ****? I'm guessing it'll be total **** cos it looks thrown together. I also sort of expect that if renault were that bad last year then launch this that they have put a huge effort into this season and regs. they all will be all about engine still though.
They're all aesthetically compromised so far. Apart from the Williams which looks to be a beautiful car, from the one shadowy pic they've offered, will have to wait and see from a different angle I'm not seeing the design flow at all on the Force India, it does look like a bodge job, hard to see how it all came out of the same factory but I'm sure the car will be decent as they always manage to produce a car that reflects their standing in the sport, solid mid-upper midfielder with podium / near-podium potential on the right weekend The Renault at least you can see how it links up front to back. Same on the Sauber But the noses need sorting out and those fins are really gratuitous. Obviously they're for an aerodynamic performance advantage but there must be more elegant solutions than that
the rear on the Renault is pure filth. the shark fin is gash and the stubby nose isn't great. the force india looks boxy, suggesting cost cutting and lack of time in wind tunnels etc. the fin looks basically something that they realised 2 days ago they could do and they filled the technical spec space with a giant sail not thinking how it all ties together. the williams fin looks better than either of the others as its lower but they all have the same snub nose look and are all not that completely new from last years cars. The renault has the advantage of a good colour mix of yellow and black. the foce indai even has a bog basic straight line pain job on it and even that looks a mess.
Paint job and livery can hide a multitude of sins, as you say, the force india isn't doing any of that whereas the Renault colours distract the eye from the uglies Sauber making the fin all black makes it disappear a bit The shape of the Williams one is totally different as well as lower so is much less obvious and also integrated into the shape of the engine cover and paint job. I think this is a really nice car All the noses are pretty munterish tbh, jigsaw piece noses as I call them but they haven't been nice on pretty much all cars for years now, from the anteater style to the dildo/jigsaw style Let's see where the big boys are at come the end of the week/weekend
mercedes tomorrow then ferrari and mcclaren on Friday. after that its really just lets see the red bull and its into testing.
Yeh we can argue about what's pretty and what isn't all season but it's what happens on track that matters, although this is hugely influenced by the design of course. Red Bull are being talked up by Hamilton today. Mercedes will still be fastest, I think that's obvious and he's clearly downplaying it I wouldn't even put McClaren in the same bracket as Red Bull, Fezzers, Merc anymore, they're now a lower mid-field team albeit with a bit of history. They have made some really terrible decisions in the last 5 or so years and only have themselves and their clearly fecked up politics to blame. Right now all they are is a name. Interesting to see though if, with their considerable resources, they can produce something that isn't turd for 2017 Will also be interesting to see where we're at with engines
