Should have worn a condom then, or done oral instead.

I frequently go to work when sick. Get 15 days total a year for holidays, time off, sickness, etc. I usually take Xmas, boxing day, xmas, Eve, and new years Eve/ new years day each year. That just gives me 10 days for rest of the year (and after I'm forced to take July 4 and Thanksgiving off leaves me with 8).

I'm not wasting one of my 8 days on being home sick. I usually go to work. Log in to the sign in app. Sign in. Then go home sick an hour later.

As long as I make it to the office and sign in it doesn't count against me.

Most industries public holidays wouldn't count against me. I would have a free day off for xmas and labour day, etc. Because I work in a hospital we arnt given holidays. (Makes sense for doctors and nurses as people need to be here but I think it's stingy they hold it against office workers).

There should be better laws and company legislation regarding sickness like colds and flu. It would be for the benefit of most people's general health and wellbeing and improve lifestyle but we've never really cared about that in the UK anyway so why start now.

It really gets my goat seeing people in work, in busy shared public spaces coughing and spluttering. The situation Milk describes above for example is terrible, if an employee is genuinely ill they should get additional free sick days, it's in the company's interest too as it stops it spreading around the office affecting productivity.

It's somewhat understandable showing up to work full of it if you have very limited sick days and can't waste them, fine but there should be allowances. Showing up in shared spaces at gyms, events, concerts, the shops things you don't have to do like that is shocking though. How is that even enjoyable anyways ?!

Some people just don't want to miss out.

To be fair, you'd probably turn up to the champions league final if Pool were there and you were suffering from airborne aids.

People normally get sick days in the uk without it affecting their holidays i thought? It's only in the US because they are the ultimate capitalists where they tack on sick days into their normal holidays.

This is talking about permanant employees!, then you have the grey area of the self employed/contractors who get paid by the day/hour and will not earn any money if they sit at home all day having a ****/recovering

Once we're out of Europe it'll only be a matter of time until we're the same.

My first job had no sick day policy. If you were sick it didn't count against you. No one counted how many days you were out. It was very nice. <ok>

Granted, I had one friend who abused it. Most people didn't but there's always one. (His philosophy was "they pay me like half a programmer so I'm going to work like half a programmer"). Somehow kept his job.

He had a project due next day (sales sold something we hadn't written, hadn't even considered writing) and was stressed out about it so he called a sicky.

Naturally, his project got pushed onto me when he failed to show up.

You get a lot of public holidays as well don't you? That's pretty **** though

I get 26 days to take when ever plus the 8 bank holidays... but then have like sick leave up to 6 months at full pay.
