I didn't bother last time, just took the points and £100 fine. Still got those 3pts on my licence so I'll do the course this time (if they let me)
Not sure about over there but insurance here goes up more than that if you get points. Its not the cost of the ticket that gets you It's the increase in insurance price that does.
No idea how much it effects insurance but you are meant to declare it. Some don't but I do, it's a technicality that insurance companies would use to avoid paying out.
To be fair, i went on the course and am a lot more concious of my speed. Dunno whether its me mellowing out now i'm getting older or because the course had a big effect. I certainly drive at more reasonable speeds unless i'm in a rush or on a dual carriageway
I'm not a quick driver had 2 tickets in total but i passed my test nearly 40 years ago and one of them was one of the type of camera job that gave then a bad name i.e. right at bottom of hill with a 30 mph limit justified by the fact school nearby though actually halfway up next hill.I got clocked doing 34 mph at 9.42 pm so 6 hours after school time
I think I got 3 tickets and a warning between ages 16 and 20. Only 1 and a warning in the 18 years since. It's not that I drive a lot slower than I did as a teenager, I just learnt to avoid cops. I know where to look for them and always keep an eye out.
I've had three tickets in 18yrs but two in last 18mths including today's. First was a unmarked police car tracking me. Followed me for three quarters of mile and got me doing an average of 89.74mph in a 70mph zone (I actually backed off because I thought it seemed strange him following me) Second was a mobile speed van round the corner from where I live. This one was a permanent yellow box. Easily the most annoying too because I knew it was there, just thought it was a 40mph zone
The worse was the 2 i got. First when i was 19 on the phone (bit naughty), cops not in their obvious uniform were riding quadbikes so i didnt think they were cops. Second one was on the M25 in an average speed cam area. Was zooming through at like 11pm at night. Apparantly average speed cams do work! (i used to zoom past all of them!)
There are cameras everywhere these days over here. Years ago, when they were introducing the things and I wasn't very aware of them I got 2 tickets within the space of a few days. That made me more vigilant. I rarely go much over the limit these days because it's not worth it.
Never had a ticket, points, anything, totes clean license On regular routes I know where there is lurking Po-Po and camera spots so always drive more carefully in them areas, rest of the time If I'm driving somewhere I don't know at all, like for the first time on those roads and in that place then I'm doing speed limit
No cameras here and cops can only pull over so many people. As long as one or two people are going faster than you you won't get pulled. On interstates I know I can do 15 over as long as there are some fools around doing 20 over. It's when you go through the countryside on quiet roads you have to be careful. 1) if no one else is around no one is going faster than you. You get the ticket if you pass a cop. 2) rural police stations are poorly funded and get most of their income from giving tickets.
Same applies in UK really, especially on motorways, they're not looking for the guy doing 80, they're looking for the one doing 100plus and there are enough of those driving like utter dickheads on a normal day, there's an allowable excess on the speed limit here anyway, think it's 10% plus 2 of the limit wherever you're driving At other times 80 might get you pulled if it's quiet, they're bored and you're the only fast car around I still insist that it's people going too slow who cause more problems and pose more of a danger for others
When I take the Ducati out I tend to push it a bit but for things like shopping I take it easy in the Lamborghini
