    brilliant lunge for the line.
Cav is a really smart sprinter.

No-one will ever equal Merckx though as he could win everything even in the grand tours. Time trial ,mountain stages even sprints he did it all.
nowadays to win Tour de France you just aim to beat your rivals in the mountains and time trial sod winning stages - though Froome does like winning them thankfully

Merckx finished his career with 34 stage victories in the Tour, it's conceivable Cavo could equal or even beat that total

Interestingly, Merckx's nickname was 'The Cannibal' :emoticon-0116-evilg

You should it's a good feel good movie. Eddie Merkx does a cameo in it, Kevin Costner is one of the main stars. Loved that film but it must be 1980 something very old.

Surely we all have to admit that merkx was probably drugged to the gills.

he had 2 positive tests i think ,though he always protests his innocence ,but drugging has always been happening in cycling. The early Tour de Frances riders used strychnine (sp) <yikes> as a stimulant. Even if Mercyx was drugging he was clearly so far ahead of his competitors it was unreal and back then it wasn't like the industrial scale that came to light after the customs stop of , if my memory is correct, the Festina team doctors car which turned out to stuffed to the gills with doping gear and led to French police raids on the Tour de France cyclists hotel and led in the end to the Lance Armstrong scandal and every winner for about 20 years being stripped of their yellow jersey

Evans gone from top gear... Just rewatching an old episode and the difference in relationship and banter between the old 3 and new show is so different and they've obviously not been able to recreate that (although obv still early days).
Dont get the hate for Evans, all a bit much but it's like Moyes after Ferguson. Was always a poisoned chalice to be the one to take over from the previous 3

    It's the back stabbing.

Same as Schmitt the horrid person. I really hate her. Given her start then she's just throwing insults and thinking she's it.

I used to like Evans when I was younger but he doesn't seem to have moved with the times. Him and TG just wasn't the right fit. You likened it to Fergie being followed by Moyes, I'd say the partnership was liking to Liverpool and Woy!

The show was so big and popular and had a following of fans that didn't even like cars all that much that who ever came in was never going to match up as it was always going to be compared to previous series. They needed to re-do the whole show really, but the name Top Gear is too big to just jack it in.

But it's human nature. Much like us comparing United now to United 3 years ago.

We all say no player is bigger than the club... but I think Clarkson/Hammond/May at the moment are bigger than Top Gear. They made the show about them rather than about cars so without them, Top Gear is just another car show, they made it more than that and I don't think BBC will be able to make the show more than just a car show again.

That's why they probably should have completelty revamped it so the comparison would have been apples and pears
