Hate interviewing, proper boring asking the same questions and getting the same varied answers lol Then you have to decide who you fancy the most...
So Miss Candidate, just to judge your character, if you were sexually propositioned at work how would you react? Would you be a whistleblower, or would you agree to blow me instead? You'd report me? Ok well... thank you for your interest in the position. Don't call us, we'll call you.
Fortunately just me, I ask what I like, structured interviews bore the arse off me. I hire on attitude as opposed to knowledge tbh.
sooo... <whsitle> do you argue with them until they give up and whoever gives up quickest gets the job?
haha, I never argue with anyone at work. I just sit down with people we discuss the issue and then end up agreeing I was right
A few years ago we brought in a 'values and behaviour' framework for recruitment and promotion. I say 'we' but it was a new HR director, and it was **** all like the Campbell and Yeung values and behaviour system that I studied for my MBA. Basically, she used it to eliminate all the 'middle-aged white men' with any skills and experience (her words - somewhat at odds with HR's own discrimination policy, but there you go), and once all internal candidates were disposed of she brought in all he cronies off LinkedIn that she'd had lined up for months (and on twice the salaries of those they replaced). strictly speaking it was illegal, but have you ever been in a management union/association? Six years later we can't get rid of these ****ers without ginormous severances that we can't afford. Every single one of them are now doing 'special projects' as far away from causing any further damage. Anyway, this attitude rather than experience, and the Southwest Airlines framework was another of her big ideas, so good luck with that. She wouldn't be told that SWA didn't use the programme when technical skills were paramount (i.e they didn't employ someone without a pilot's licence into the job just because he wore a wacky tie), so I hope and trust that if you do select on attitude tobes, than it's between two equally qualified candidates.
Absolutely, there's levels within levels here. I was interviewing today on behalf of one of my line managers who's on leave, so the pay scales weren't senior. At more junior levels there's always a bit of 'gut instinct' & tbh I've always been a sucker for those with a glint in their eye and a bit of passion. For senior positions I use assessment centres and it's a much more formulaic approach.
Just got in from footy #knackered.com It's warmer than it looks out there guys. Bath and a couple of cold beers is in order me thinks. I'm on Becks Vier tonight
Why not normal Becks? Someone I used to know thought that Becks was named after David Beckham. He was a Man U fan.
