Went into B&Q this morning (it's ok I'm not moaning about them this time) to get some potting compost.

So! they have a 60ltr bag for £4.98, but it's on a special and you get 3 for £12, that's a saving of £2.94 "or is it"

Some chap and his wife thought they couldn't resist the offer and were about to start loading their trolley when " scuse mate those bags are the same make @ 125ltr for £5.98"

The guy looked at me as if I were mad and explained "but these are on special offer"

    Yer true I said but 2 bags @ 125ltr is 250 ltr for £11.96 your paying £12 for 180ltr.

But that's for 3 bags I'm saving nearly £3 your bags aren't discounted at all.

I gave up and just got my own 125ltr bags.

grumpygit - there is just no telling some folk.

They always seem to look at the promotion price rather than use the weight of content in that same comparison.

In the same way fuel was changed from price per gallon to litres, hence people no longer multiply it by 4.5 then the cost of a tank at a garage that is 3p dearer per litre. Hence what seems a few pennies dearer is actually shillings dearer in old money per gallon.

Although I'm not sure about the identity of the guy in the picture - seems to be wearing a stupid hat ( shame it wasn't a different Cisse - I could have extracted the urine about a stupid haircut )

Not really sure I see the media's point on this story. Typical BBC. I can see the offence it may cause but hand on heart how many people of religious beliefs may not act according to their beliefs. I have had the same conversation with Muslims about Muslims in regards to the drinking of alcohol. To get a better understanding of both sides of the situation that I have knowledge in reality.

I think the point is that Cisse is 'cherry picking' what aspects of his religious beliefs he chooses to uphold. It does seem a bit crass of him to complain about the shirt sponsor being against his religious principles - when he chooses to ignore one of the 'core' principles of Islam. ( gambling - or even being at a gambling venue .)
Unfortunately for Cisse and other 'high' profile personalities - they have to be really careful not to scratch their nose in public - let alone what they may say ! - the press are a very persistent lot - and will eventually catch you out. I don't actually mean anything nasty by suggesting he is a hypocrite - I am guilty of this as much as most of us ( if we were honest enough to admit ) - but I am not a Premiership footballer on mega money, and my hypocrisies is not 'big' news.

Oh ok, I don't know anything about Premier footballers as you probably know. Hence I did not see the connection but with what you say, I now do. I suppose the problem is the media play up to the fuss of the pampered one's, then in the next breath shoot them down. Probably why I ignore both sides of the fence.

My honesty just caused me to be messed about for 20 minutes

Eventually the assistant said " I haven't got a clue what to do " - Guess what shop I was in !

As a favour for an elderly neighbour ( No, not THAT one ) I went to my local supermarket to buy her some cat food. It was on special offer. Normal price 45p per tin. On offer for 8 tins for £3, saving 60p. My neighbour wanted me to try to buy 80 tins. Cost would be £ 30 instead of £ 36.
I told her I would pay for what I could get - she could reimburse me on delivery.
I duly bought 80 tins of the exact cat food she wanted - except - neighbour did not state that the food was for a kitten - I thought she only had a cat aged about 10 years.
The catfood I got was for ' Senior Cats aged 7+ and paid £ 30. Naturally when I made delivery, my neighbour notified me of MY mistake ! - and, of course wasn't going to give me the money I had forked out....would I mind returning the tins - which were too heavy for her to carry..... of course I can ..... and that was when the fun began.
I went to the customer services desk with 80 tins of catfood and receipt in hand.( Nobody else awaiting any help at this station ). I explained the situation to the assistant & asked for a refund. ( I had checked their shelves for the kitten variety of the catfood - nothing - and the cat won't eat anything else. ) All I wanted was to be refunded £ 30. The assistant then zapped the barcode of one of the tins, put in the quantity (80) and then said " So I have to give you £ 36." I said " No, the tins are on offer @ 8 for £ 3. I have bought 10 lots of 8 so I paid £ 30as it says on the receipt ." The assistant then tried to press what seemed like every button on her till machine. Twice further she said the refund was £ 36. I said that I had paid £ 30 as it shows on the receipt !, and that I only wanted £ 30 refunded. The assistant then called over another assistant. They came to the same figure of £36. I said that I could take the £ 36 and put the 'extra' £ 6 in the desktop charity tin. Suddenly the original offer to refund me £ 36 was withdrawn - " We can't do that ." I suggested that all they needed to do was to conduct a 'miscellaneous goods' transaction for £ 30. I was told that the till wouldn't allow this. The assistant then got a calculator and tried to work out what each of the 80 tins would cost at the 'offer' price ( 37.5p ) - but the till couldn't encode half pennies.
The assistant then said " I haven't got a clue what to do " - which was my cue for a certain amount of head shaking.
The poor woman then had to telephone a manager to resolve the problem - and even then it was more luck than judgement. She came up with a figure of £ 28.91 !!!! before coming to the correct figure - as was shown on the receipt.
By now the queue of people behind me could have formed a massive Conga.

Why do I offer to 'help' my neighbours ? - I lead an exciting life !

Some **** cut me up today, now there's nothing unusual about that I hear you say "BUT" this idiot was driving a new Merc "C" class, not 100% sure but believe these start at around £25000 up to £50/60000, now I realise that it might have been one from the lower end of that price band and equipment levels are therefor lower "BUT" no indicators on a vehicle of that cost it's ridiculous.

Today I did have the classic ' Mexican stand-off ' in front of me at a roundabout in Gillingham ( it's always when I am visiting the place ) - I did shout out my car window - and pretty sure that all 4 idiot motorists static at each of the junctions of the roundabout could hear me.

Those people who know me - and, now I am sure, most Not606 members are beginning to realise - I HATE injustice.
I appreciate that, in life there are many forms of unfairness. Much of it has the backing of 'legislation' I probably hate this type of injustice more than any other. Just because something is 'legal' doesn't make it right.
Recently the 'non-transferable' nonsense of our ST & the extra charge to allow a guest to use our ST has riled me. ( I know you're not surprised .)
But this is just the latest 'rule' that I find distasteful - because, ethically it is not right. Reaction to this matter has been mixed. Most STH, who have expressed an opinion, are not happy. A lot of non-STH are in the opposite camp. The end result is that, (imho), the Club will be able to turn to all the dissenters and quote that... 'only 5% of STH have voiced an objection. Last season, GFC calculated that more than 5% of STH were abusing the system'....
or something along those lines... thus quoting figures that would seem to justify their sledgehammer tactics - rather than demanding that the turnstile operative did their job more efficiently.
The above situation will not take into account many STH who are to apathetic to voice their dissent. Unfortunately this will allow the Club to treat us like a CLOT ( I actually mean something else ) - without any guilt - not that there appears there is much in the first place. I might not have much authority to change policy - but will always try to not to be treated like a CLOT.... although, if somebody wants to try to treat me like a CLOT, that person shouldn't be upset if I act in such a way.

There is too much apathy from people who dislike injustice - get off your backside and stand up for fairness ( in ALL walks of life ) - it might not change anything - but if you don't try, you are guaranteed that NOTHING will ever change.

    alwaysright,
You have mentioned in your post the fact that many of the non-STH have dismissed our grievance, that is something that has helped me through this injustice. Unlike many who have used tickets for children and family members mine have all been used on friends who are not regular Gills supporters, so why has this helped me overcome this injustice.

I still go to all the matches I can so don't lose anything.

My friends (who have failed to support me) have lost their free and friends for a £5 tickets.

The club have lost the additional revenue these people have spent on match days.

So much as the injustice angers me I seem to be the only one with nothing to lose.

alwaysright - I'm 100% on your side. Not just because we are friends but I agree businesses use the opposition to our corner to win an argument. I have found through my discussions that Non ST Holders have not attempted to understand our argument in its full context. Quite often other scenarios have been portrayed as arguments to us. Yet every consumer in real life looks for the cheapest deal. In our argument multiple ST's are not the cheapest deal dependent on personal situation. However, this does not mean we should hold our peace. not606 has never been a happy clappy site. I love all Gills supporters regardless of what side of the fence our argument falls. However, we should not be silenced just because we appear the minority. If we want to drone on we will. This will affect the club long term unless we have a really good season. Does our Chairman really want to play that sort of lottery against his supposed bread and butter to the start of any season.

apart from the friends that you HAD - sorry grumpygit - I couldn't resist that one - but I fully appreciate your point - and until Priestfield stadium is too small to accomodate all who apply for season tickets, you have my blessing to continue to lose as many friends as you like.

brb Thanks for your support & understanding. I am sure that the great silent majority of all Gills fans also understand & support our stance. But, the principles of unfairness will affect everybody - everybody who isn't being the greedy b****** My ( our ) argument is intended to achieve fairness NOT just for me, but for ALL supporters of Gillingham Football Club - even those who can't be bothered to stop themselves from being trodden on - or those who are getting fed up of listening to the voice of reason. (it has been in my signature for a long time !)

Can I apologise to all who I may have offended by my comments regarding the season ticket debate. I hadn't realised, until today, that I had nothing worthy of complaint - not compared to the utter nonsense that I witnessed before worse was to befall me and my two sons - TRYING to get into the ground. The Club have obviously worked out my real name and were out to get me.
When I arrived at the ground, my family went to the Rainham End turnstiles on the Gordon Road side - because one of my sons had a matchday ticket & we decided to stay as one unit.
I could see that there was one turnstile for STH ( NO queue ! ) - and a turnstiles for non STH - with a queue of about 30. At the head of this queue was an angry young mum - having problems with Mr.Jobsworth in the kiosk - who, it would appear was refusing entry to mum & tribe - because they didn't ALL have a matchday ticket - refusing entry to the STH of her group. Naturally mum wanted to keep all members of her young family close to her - but Mr. J was having none of it. Other people in the queue were beginning to get a little tense - and asking the stewards if it was possible for non STH to use the EMPTY STH turnstile whilst the dilema of the mum was sorted----- NO CHANCE.
I think that common sense prevailed ( eventually ) & mum & clan were allowed to enter together. Fearing a repetition for myself, I asked a steward if, with precedent set, could my lot enter the same turnstile - " NO " --- but he did usher me & my two sons from the middle of the queue to another turnstile ( shut ! ) - with a promise that it was about to be opened, and that all three of us could enter together. So we stood there patiently waiting for the turnstile to be opened........and waited.....and waited.... I then said to the same steward " Thankyou for getting us to the front of our own queue " He smiled - oblivious to the fact that the turnstile door was still closed - and that I was clearly taking the pi... This caused an amount of humour for others in the original queue that was decreasing faster than Usain Bolt can cover 100 metres. I assured these people that my family was in the queue for 'Special Needs'.... I again thanked the steward for arranging for our ' Fast Pass'
At that point I joined the back of my original queue with one of my sons, whilst the other son joined the non STH queue.
Thank goodness I didn't want the Club to organise a piss up in a brewery.

There is no way i would let my kids in a different turnstile. Imagine the horror of being either trapped inside or outside unable to reach them. The idiot who has dreamed this policy up is not a parent.

If you went to a shop and the customer assistant treated you like an idiot you would not shop there again.
You are a customer to the football club in just the same way except you are addicted to one particular shops products. Break the habit and the problem goes away. I for one will not stand for the club treating me like an idiot. I have managed to break the habit and only go from time to time when it suits me. I saw Saturday as a day out treat for the family and not a fix. As long as I can keep it like that I laugh at the way the club treats its addicts.
Rainham End No13 ...Do me a favour all part of the entrapment policy.

Shock, horror, ST Holders pitch invasion syndrome strikes again...I've got the solution, so our law abiding match day ticket supporters can enjoy their game with out all this carry on...

ST Holders behold as from next season this will be implemented...it's already in the T&C's small print, so if you don't like it tough, we will force you by divide and rule...
