I would never try to give advice on dieting, but what I can give is my own personal experience (without giving any personal details away) - and if that helps others then that's great, if not, nothing has been lost: Anyone that knows me on here knows I have never had the need to diet - how wrong was I when I had a blood test (fasting). My choloestrol was through the roof, and well my sugar levels, let's not go there but think pre diabetic. Football is not as easy to go to as it once was for me for reasons I'm not discussing, so when I do go, it's meant a great deal of effort on my part to do so. Even if I plan ahead, it don't take much for me to cancel. So going football yesterday was a big achievement for me, and a step in the right direction for a change. Anyhow back to the diet, the choice was medication or sort myself out, simple as that and not to sort myself out or alternatively not take medication is not road I need to go down. So this is how it now goes, I cut out all sugar, and cut out all the saturated fat the LDL (bad) in place of HDL (good) I googled it, read it and learned it. Cutting a very long story short, that meant no sweets...Yup NO sweets, it's not easy but I didn't expect it to be, no cakes, no pies, I cut out meat as much as possible, I changed to chicken and turkey. I read the labels, there is sugar in everything, lose it was my task. Saturated fat, the labels tell you, but again there is a variety of ways food producers choose to list it, let's just say not all food producers want to help you, why would they, if you stop eating their products. So here's what I do: Breakfast: whole wheat toast and a cuppa (tea), plenty of natural water (all day long) Lunch: porridge this stuff.... please log in to view this image I mix in Chia seeds and Flaxseeds. I use semi skimmed milk, for my own personal choice I also add raisins it helps compensate for the absence of sugar. Evening meal: Vegetables or salad with chicken or turkey More importantly my five fruits a day. I've lost one stone in about six weeks, I'm now within the healthy BMI range again, i checked today. The important bit for me though is when I next have a blood test, I want to see my sugar levels down and defo need to see a massive improvement in my cholesterol levels and that's more important than losing weight to me, but my point is it can help lose weight as well. It was not easy, it was harder than giving up smoking! At times I might falter, but the odd ocassion is not going to hurt, it's the effort I put in all the other times, it took a lot of research to understand the foods I was consuming, we all have a choice. Thankfully I love fruit, veg and salad stuff, so that was easy for me, the hard bit was cutting out the rubbish, and that was really hard. After writing all that ^ I need to go and have a lay down now.
GREED ! First it was SHELL, then BP, now British Gas (( £3.3 Billion )), who has announced PROFITS ** in numbers of which I do not know how many zero (noughts) are in the figure !! How can a Government allow these corporations to acquire obscene amounts of wealth - extorting ridiculous amounts in payments --- while people (( many people )), are too afraid to turn on ANY heating ? ......** And - let's be clear about this -- we're talking of PROFITS .. After each corporation has paid the price for the commodity that they then 'mark up' using astronomical proportions.... ... 'Greed' doesn't seem a description harsh enough to describe the actions of these corporations.....but forum swearing is not permitted !
Lazy ba..... (you know what I mean) Today, my 'green', gardening waste bin was emptied by the local authority chaps...... and it was painful to watch. I had placed the bin in the opening to my driveway... One of the 'operatives' stood by my bin - waiting for the dustcart to park next to him...(( nothing wrong with that I hear you say. )) except...... The vehicle had parked no more than 10 feet prior to my driveway - and was in situ for at least 30 seconds - whilst two other 'operatives' collected adjacent bins from other neighbours, and emptied them into the back of the cart...... and still the chap with my bin stood waiting for the cart to move forward......instead of ((perhaps applying a bit of common sense & efficiency )) moving his backside a few feet - to wheel my bin to the back of the cart - to empty the bin.... Then - the cart moved forward - but instead of parking up next to the chap with my bin - the driver stopped beside my neighbour's driveway - forcing the chap with my bin to have to walk more than the original 10 feet, to reach the cart, to empty my bin....Then, the lazy bas.... put my bin into my neighbours garden --- and didn't flinch when I shouted out more grief than I give to the linesman on the Gordon Road side..... ..... I can't wait for my new Council Tax bill !
Warning - the link contains scenes of a betting shop -- please gamble responsibly ............. Anyway, I bet you watch all of the video - and hoped it went to a penalty shoot-out.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ow-punches-traditional-medieval-football.html
I liked the video so much, I have watched it again ---- and noticed that there are stewards (( marshals )) in the middle of the melee !! - can you imagine that at Priestfield..... I like the chap in orange trousers - looks to be a useful goalkeeper ..... but, I think that he might not survive VAR ! --- although, to be fair to him - apparently you only get sent off if you kill somebody... So - that restricts my game !
''Gillingham fail to score at Harrogate'' - you heard it first on BBC News (Southeast) ! I've not had a rant for a while (( ages for me. ))..... I didn't go to the game today - I was helping my older son move into a new property (( but we had the game on ifollow )) This evening BBC News announced the results of the Southern football clubs...The idiot announced that Gills ''failed to score at Harrogate.'' !!! Was the newsreader from Yorkshire ?.. Why be so negative about one of your 'local' clubs?.... What was wrong with 'Gillingham got a credible point from their long trip North ?? -- because that's what it was... It wasn't a pretty game (( the bits I saw)) - but - the result ( not a defeat ) was the important issue - maintaining the distance from Clubs lower than Gills - and with other results quite favourable, league safety is getting a little closer.
I did think it would be a draw, just gut feeling especially with Gate having drawn so many lately and we still have a touch of vulnerability about us. As you say a credible point, they all count towards safety.
Gary Lineker Firstly - I don't agree with him on his opinion of the Government's latest position on asylum seekers... And I agree that the BBC are right to take action regarding impartiality breaches -- I assume that they are written in his contract... and, I have always wanted Politics kept out of ALL Sport..... ... I am interested in both 'subjects' - but - when it comes to Sport, I have no desire to be given a political sermon from somebody who forgets that, for all his sanctimony, he is perfectly capable of compromising his 'so-called' principles when taking the money ( or does he not think it wasn't right to take money from the 'work' he conducted during last years World Cup ? - Surely Human Rights is the privilege of the residents of Qatar , as well as Albanians & other 'boat' people??.. However - I am not sure that it is fair on Mr. Lineker when the BBC say that he is suspended until he reduces / tones down his activity on Social Media.... The BBC are at liberty to sanction Lineker for using his place on MOTD for his Politics... From what I understand, the BBC have NOT stated that Lineker's contract forbids him to express any opinion on Social Media. The BBC may not share Political viewpoints of Lineker -- I don't share them - but - what Lineker said (( as much as I didn't like it )), was not illegal. Lineker was exercising his right to free speech.... and the BBC would do well to remember that ! I actually think that the BBC has given the attention that he craved for his political viewpoint. The BBC were so stupid as to not realise that Lineker is very much in the minority with regards to his opinions on the 'asylum' seekers... On many forums, the public response has been overwhelmingly against siding with Lineker... The BBC should have treated Lineker's throwaway statement as if they never heard it.
Whilst we're on the subject.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-64916446 The French President must think the the UK (( or at least its' Government )), must be utterly stupid ---- and I would share his opinion ! Why are we giving France many more millions of £££ - when it's perfectly clear that the French have absolutely no intention of lifting one finger to prevent the flood of asylum seekers leaving the French shores in boats.. The UK has given huge amounts of cash and resources to France over several years- supposedly to Police the issue of small boat crossings - and for what ??.... I even read that when boats are intercepted within 'French' waters, they get taken to Dover !!!- The French Government must be laughing at the stupidity of Sunak..... and it's costing us another £500 Million --- and that's before we have to pay for their 5* accommodation........ .... or should we be directing them to Lineker's house ?
The idiot magnet's still working ! Mrs A and I was having a cuppa - outside a cafe. The shop next door (an allsorts store ), had some bags of compost on the floor of its' frontage... A car pulled up and the driver, a woman, entered the shop - and then re-emerged with a lady - who I took to be the shopkeeper... who helped the driver to load up 3 bags of compost into the boot of the car... The driver then departed. There was another woman on the scene - sat at the table next to us.... She turned to me and asked'' Did you see that?'' I replied '' See what ?'' She said '' The woman from the car took 3 of those bags - she didn't pay for them'' I said'' I think she was served by the shopkeeper - and probably paid when she went into the shop.''... The (idiot) woman then asked me '' Are you sure?'' !!!....I really should have known better - but... I wasn't sure how to terminate this unwanted conversation.... I told the woman '' I can't be certain - but - it's really none of my business - if the shopkeeper wants to leave goods unattended outside their shop, they know the risks ... the shopkeeper doesn't care enough not to protect their goods- so, why should I care ?'' The idiot then said '' You should care.'' I asked '' Why - it doesn't concern me. The shopkeeper is careless to leave their stuff where anyone can steal it.'' The idiot said '' You're just like everyone else - nobody cares.'' ... I have to admit to now being a little annoyed... I said to the idiot '' Are you suggesting that the security of the goods outside the shop is my responsibility.'' The idiot said '' Well you must have seen the driver just take the bags and drive off.'' By now I was doing all I could to not give the woman two words containing several Fs and a K, I said to the woman, '' You obviously took a great interest in what the driver did - somehow you're suggesting that I was at fault to not challenge the driver - tell me- what did you do to prevent what probably wasn't a crime ? - I'll tell you what you did - NOTHING - that smacks of hypocrisy - now stop talking to me HYPOCRITE ..... .... Mrs A smiled and asked me '' Have you finished playing ?''..
Must admit, I use to go to a shop where the bags were kept outside unattended. I would normally load my boot up first, then go inside to pay, although no one would have ever known if I'd paid looking from outside. It's all done on trust. Although if I'd been Mr A, I would have asked the concerned woman, did you get the registration? When she's says no, my reply would have been, well did you get any of it, think this could be important lol - while supping up the remains of your drink. If she says yes I did get the reg, you tell her to go in and tell the shopkeeper, and while she is gone, you leg it. Reverse psychology my friend, the answer to all your woes.
More hypocrites ! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...rristers-refusing-prosecute-eco-warriors.html ..... but defending murderers, rapists, *****philes etc isn't a problem for their conscience (( nor taking an obscene hourly rate ! )) - HYPOCRITES.
Hawkins' shirt !....or is it only me that cares ? Yet another game where Hawkins did extremely well to keep his shirt !...Yet another game where the officials failed to see many incidents where Hawkins' shirt was pulled, left, right and centre...Yet another game where the linesman ( assistant referee ), on the GRS side did nothing to stop the amount of miles stolen at each throw-in.... I will concede a few of these were by The Gills players - but - nothing like the liberties taken by our opponents - and, all the while, the idiot with the flag does nothing. Regarding Hawkins , as usual he had two defenders for company throughout the game... On one specific occasion, Hawkins challenged for a ball very close to the sideline - and immediately in front of the linesman - who was close enough to have been 'involved' in the challenge ! ... As Hawkins rose, both the Doncaster defenders pulled at his shirt -- which went so high up his back I could see his birthmark in between his shoulder blades.... What did the lineman do ?I think he was thrusting his backside towards the crowd to fart in their faces! How the Hell did he fail to see the incident? .....Actually, I am certain that the flagwaver did see the foul (( and all the other times. )) - and decided that he couldn't be bothered to do his job - or was he simply cheating --- because -- if he was so incompetent as to not see the hundreds of times that Hawkins has his shirt pulled - then the linesman can indeed crouch on the touchine - and stick his flag up his a*** for all the good it is.... .... rant over - - I think I've had too much chocolate !
Oh well at least they are sorry if Brighton miss out on a Champions League place because of this, it makes it all so much better. @SkySportsNews BREAKING! The PGMOL has admitted a mistake was made by the match officials and VAR when not awarding a penalty to Brighton in Saturday's Premier League game against Tottenham.
Thank goodness it was a friendly match ! This is the 'type' of passion I expect - - on the pitch....... but I think Kyle went OTT after a friendly game against his old club.
A tale of NOT woe...... I know that Regsurgam loves them ! ............. and I feel I need to be fair to Tesco - - maybe they are not the biggest bandits in the High Street ! A couple of days ago I complained about some price increase by Tesco in the last week or so.....but today I came across an outrageous price in my town centre - which thankfully I didn't pay.. I wanted to get a key cut -- nothing special - a bog-standard Yale lock key...I knew that there were two locksmiths in town.. One was in the 'centre' of the row of shops...The other was about 120 yards away - just into a side street immediately off the main road of shops......I knew that my 'business' in town would take me past both premises... The first locksmith had signs inside and outside the shop - offering a ' Half-price deal'.. I made an enquiry regarding the details of the offer... The shopkeeper genuinely seemed as if he was doing me a favour -- ''You pay full price for the first key cut, then half price for every one after that.''... I asked 'How much for the first one? '' The retailer said '' It depends on the key - a normal Yale lock key, for instance is £9.'' ........ The other day, I said something like '' Clucking Hell '' when I saw the price of eggs... I thanked the shopkeeper and said I'd return with my keys (( as if. )) I then resumed my business - and duly reached the 2nd locksmith.... Who had his prices advertised in the window... You know exactually what each type of key is going to cost...... and the cost for a bog-standard Yale lock key was just £ 2............. and the only thing extra that it cost me was a walk of about 120 yards.
I apologise to Resurgam ...... I am not Woke !...................and it appears that good manners is not appreciated ! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ed-apologise-saying-Good-afternoon-girls.html Isn't it heartening to see the World going madder as each day passes ? All of the above nonsense coming from a headteacher at an ''ALL GIRLS '' school = which obviously do not understand irony or hypocrisy - given that it has rejected applications from biologically non females (( that's boys to you and me )), who consider their gender to be 'female' (( or an 'it' in one case. )) The poor ( good-mannered ) teacher than had to apology for her (( I presume she is female )), courtesy.... I know what I would have said... '' I am sincerely sorry if I have offended any of you ar5eholes with biological dysphoria - henceforth I will refer to you as anuses ....unless any of you inform me that you only crap through your mouth''...... .... I love the term ' biological dysphoria' - it seems that I constantly encounter males whose anatomical gender conflicts with their birth status - they're all clots ! ...I'm fairly sure that shows how much 'Woke' I embrace...
At the risk of being controversial - if I wasn't already in my last post !.....I don't think that they were penalties - and the referee, Martin Woods, got nearly all decisions right. As you all know - I am quick to criticise poor officials - especially the useless linesmen - who are usually blind to all the shirt pulling and other forms of cheating - BUT - at the Stockport game, I am here to defend the referee - despite making ONE howler !..... The card for McKenzie was wrong..It was never a foul - the Stockport player who was 'caught' by Robbie, came from his 'blind side' and McKenzie was in the act of 'addressing' the ball when Robbie's foot made an ACCIDENTAL contact with the opponent.... it was an unfortunate incident - not a foul - NOT a yellow card !......However - I believe that - despite the vociferous protests of the Home crowd, the referee got just about everything correct.. That included all the other cards for Gills ( and Stockport ) players - and - the penalty appeals by Gillingham towards the end of the game were ridiculous... almost embarrassing in the theatrical way that each player went to ground - especially Lapslie - as he struggled to locate the penalty area perimeter in which to land ! I applaud the efforts of the Gills players - commitment was good....the result was fair ( given the level of participation by Stockport ) - and the referee got the most crucial decisions right.
A good day.................. for cleaning the car and clearing / tidying my garage.......probably from 11am onwards !
Freedom of speech ! I thought that we live in a society where we have a democratic right to free speech..... and judging by the 'wokeness' of our society, it appears that, ( unless you are King ), our society will bend over backwards to accommodate the tiniest percent, ( often looniest part ), of our numbers...... .....well - that 'freedom' wasn't given to the 52 ' Not-my-King ' protestors yesterday - who were arrested whilst making ( their democratic right ), a peaceful protest against the coronation of a King who promises to defend the democratic right of his 'subjects.' I would say that these protestors have been discriminated against..... compared to the Stop Oil protestors - who, apart from being hypocrites for using products manufactured directly from the very product against which they protest, - or purchase products very dependant on the use of oil in transportation of said products, seem to be intent on causing mayhem for others going about their peaceful and democratic right of freedom of speech and movement.... .... Where are the arrests of these people as they glue themselves to the road ( probably covered in bitumen - or other oil-based component ? ) ... The Police seem incapable of implementing the same ' Breach-of-Peace' laws and powers of arrest, that they deployed on protestors who just held placards and wore 'Not-my-King' shirts. I don't really want to get involved in an argument regarding the merits, or otherwise, of our monarchy... I can acknowledge the different viewpoints of Royalists and Republicans - and we'd be here for a long time in presenting credible argument for both camps ! My concern - for all aspects relating to democracy, is that consideration should be given to all viewpoints ( no matter how much in the minority - or increasing in number ) - but not exclusively to the most extreme members of our society (often at the expense of the overwhelming majority.) - or because it might 'spoil the look' at an event ! The Met Police have done nobody ( other than Charles ), any favours by arresting people performing a peaceful protest... Where will be the Police when there is the next Stop-Oil protest that creates havoc ?? - they'll be handing them out cups of coffee! How can the Police justify not arresting people who actually are causing real problems ? I have no problem if the Met Police wish to arrest any type of protestor - if they are preventing others from going about their democratic right of freedom. The arrested protestors in London, yesterday, did not stop others from viewing the coronation ! The 'Law' needs to be used equitably, without fear or favour and without abuse of its' authority......... ......mind you, I wouldn't want to be in Russia - no 'Stop-oil' protestors there - just bloody 'peasants' being properly repressed
