The Scots really believed they had a chance of qualifying...

Silva is not a regular starter for Spain. He's almost always on the bench. Only 5 of the team that started in the more important game against the Czech Rep, started last night. It was half of Spain's regular first eleven, at best.

  2. The difference, though, is that we do actually stand a chance of beating Spain. Sure, it might be an outside chance, but it's a chance, nonetheless. The Scots don't even stand a chance of getting a draw.

"Scotland make Spain look like worldbeaters."

The problem is they should be in a position of tough scrappers who can pull out the surprise win, but they always find a way to make things difficult for themselves - so they're seen as a team you have to battle for a win, rather than one to be wary of. Sort of like Northern Ireland, then - albeit not as crap as NI are at the moment.

    <doh>

At 3-0 down you would've been spanked even more <ok>. We showed the passion to try and get back into the game and quite frankly made Spain look a distant shadow of what they were in the first half. Could've even knicked two goals after that penalty had Goodwillie not been selfish and yes granted Spain could've scored a lot more too but the point is we didn't lie down and let them rape us in the second half. They are after all the best international team of all time.

We have the best fans on earth and that's what I'm proud of <ok>

Best fans on earth <doh>, I don't think so. English hating annoying fans, yes I'll give you that one. We had to stop the Home internationals because of the damage your fans used to cause coming to London. I've been in pubs full of Englishmen watching a World Cup and in comes a classic drunk loudmouth Scot to support the other team.

And i won't even begin to go on about the sectarianism, the parcel bombs and all the rest of it re Scottish 'fitba'.

Come on GH10. We all know that the jocks have well balanced personalities. They have a large chip on both shoulders!

Nice one NSS<ok> Obviously you get some decent Scots, but when it comes to football their fans really are 'less than nice'.

It comes down to a simple fact: Scotland's players know they aren't world-beaters, so they play above themselves to get results which has worked so well for them (for example, their wins over France under McLeish), whilst England's players feel entitled to a place in the semi finals of every tournament from now until the end of time, and the games are a mere formality, which they are - for every team on earth who is better than them, which is quite a lot of them truth be told...

Whilst this is true for fans of the Old Firm, fans of the national team are a lot better behaved than fans of England.

Celebrating how useless you are does not make you the best fans on Earth, only the thickest fans on the planet <ok>

Maybe that's true nowadays. I've not been to any game involving them , for ages. However, as GH10 pointed out. One of the reasons the home intl's were stopped was that the F.A. got fed up with the Jocks ripping Wembley to pieces.

These days anyone moving above jogging speed tears Wembley to pieces.

Coincidentally, if they decide to host an Old Firm game at the OS with an open bar every ten yards of the stadium, the insurance pay-out should fill that £60m funding gap rather nicely...

Jocks - with a bar every 10 yards!!! £60mm would just about pay for the damage to the OS <laugh>

    PAHAHAHAHAHA idiot.
Do you not wonder why we hate England??? Every country hates you!

Say what you like about the Old Firm situation, it's religion. Half the fans chant God Save The Queen, the other half are plastic paddy. Very rich from the country in which football hooliganism was produced in <ok>
