7th will be a Europa League place if the domestic cups go to teams that already have a European spot. With City and Arsenal in the final of the league cup, that's probably quite likely.
Jesus. His first offer was six month contract. He rejected as he wanted longer. So he was given 18 months and won’t be in charge in August, I can assure you of that. We were willing to pay £10m to get Silva so sacking sam is no great financial burden as he won’t get 100% of what he is contracted for.
Was never interested in him first time. Panic appointment. Would have rather have Martinez back at the time. Would have been interested to see how Martinez would have used £150m
Thought that you lot wanted rid of Martinez - am sure that he was sacked after a fan protest. Either way he will very likely be looking for a new job after the Euros - dunno how someone can mess up managing such a talented Belgium side but he is giving it his best shot with his tactical ineptitude.
Forgot about that - this also means that 8th could be a Europa League place if: A team in the top 5 wins the Champions League A team in the top 5 wins the Europa League A team in the top 5 wins the League Cup A team in the top 5 wins the FA Cup This means that the top 5 are in the Champions League and the remaining Europa league places go to 6th, 7th & 8th.
So if Man City win everything and arsenal win the Europa 8th counts? Assuming arsenal bottle it, and Man City (/another top 4 team win Europe/cups) win everything, then it’s top 7?
His problem is accommodating all that talent ... and egos ... I think they will be a lot better at the world cup because Hazard is no longer the 'stand out' talent ... De Bruyne and Dembele are both bossing games for their teams ... what a midfield ...

I wasn't commenting on qualification campaigns - they have been rather pants at the last 2 International tournaments and have played like a collection of individuals rather than a team ... the talent pool is arguably the best of any International squad ... but it needs a brave manager to pick the best 'team' rather than the best individuals ..
Well he appears to be getting the best out of them so far. He wasn’t involved in previous failures so he can only be judged on what he does this summer.
The performances have been terrible - those wins are due to individuals playing well rather then the team just like with England. Their players have been openly complaining and their fans have been even worse http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-out-at-roberto-martinez-over-belgium-tactics Is to our benefit though - are in the same group as England and is winnable against a manager that has all of his attacking players defend.
Is that right? I thought it’s a maximum of 7 but whether it’s 4 and 3 or 5 and 2 in each competition depends on those factors. 7th only depends on domestic cups as PNP said but I don’t think Europe has any impact on us at all? It does if you finish 4th and a team below wins the CL definitely
Actually you are correct it is a maximum of 7 - we had this come up last season when Man Utd won the Europa League and the League cup but that Europa league spot was removed.
We only had 2 in the Europa, Arsenal and Everton. We’ve been under represented in terms of the knock out rounds in recent years tbh. I remember Middlesbrough and Fulham having runs to the final. We should hedge our bets and keep the cup run whilst keeping in touch with 7th as I’d love a Europa league season
