If we do go down who leaves and who stays? Surely it would be the "best" team to be relegated in premier league history on paper at least , along with I'd imagine the biggest wage bill. Straight out the door would be - Lemina , Gabbi, Carillio , JWP, Tadic, Boufal, Hoedt..? I knew things were bad but it's slowly sinking in how in the **** we would actually be if we go down. Who would we realistically Be able to keep hold of from that starting 11 yesterday , not many I fear.
You can add Bertrand and Cedric at least to that list.. Let's not worry about that too much though for now, eh?
Genuine question. How many of our players would have a relegation release clause? How many *might* see relegation as an easy way of avoiding the sort of thing VVD went through to engineer a move to a bigger club - something we all realistically know the majority of players are here to do. And therefore do not see relegation in the same way the fans do....
Yeah I doubt the majority would be too bothered by going down. Of course their professional pride will be hit and having a relegation on your CV isn't particularly desirable but I'd imagine of the players to have played over 5 PL games for us this year only a handful would be still here should we go down. Off the top of my head Long, Davis, McCarthy and Forster would be the only ones I'd be very sure about.
The players won't want to see us relegated, but they won't feel the same as we do because their pain may be severe but short, whereas ours can herald a lifetime of disappointment. It reflects worse on the manager's CV rather than the players....they are only as good as their next team. However, although there will be adjustments, I can't see players leaving that we want to keep.....as getting back up becomes the main target....and we will have parachute payments to soften the blow.
You can't just clear out a whole team....no relegated team has ever done that (pause while someone finds an example of one that did). That would only happen if a team was bust....and we aren't that. Our requirements change, so we might switch a few, but no where near all but 3.
Young and English, I think they both might be in demand by a few of the PL midtable. Whether they want to force the move is another question. I think we will be stuck with the ones who are on big contracts who nobody else would really want (Long, Forster and Davis). Most of the foreign players I would imagine would have decent offers either from the top flight here or from the top flight in another country. Makes our situation that much more damning when I really doubt that more then 4 or 5 out of 25 players would still be here if we went down.
If players don't have relegation clauses which I don't know if they do, there will be a huge clear out sadly
The present team to go:::::: Reed and Krueger first to go. Get them two muppets out because it’s them whose ruining our club. Before you react, how much attachment do those two have to the club.....
I agree 100%. I would give Reed and Krueger far more of the blame for our current position than Pellegrino, whose problems of not being up to the job were criminally compounded by the undynamic duo by not backing him fully in the January window,
