And one win, against West Brom, in 21 PL matches (over half a season!) prior to last Saturday kind of suggests it too....
Yeah, so easy to point at the negatives and forget things like the 'robbery at Watford' ~ that alone would have put Saints outside of the bottom three, 2pts closer to Watford AND with a game in hand on them also! Small margins this season, for sure .
Yeah, two wins in 21 games sounds so much better.... Edit: are you about to bury your head in your avatar?...
Au contraire TLL! I just look at how the Saints are doing currently. Wasting any time & energy on other clubs' performances is ineffective and pointless..... as one hopes some of them will be!
But if you think we're a decent side based on very recent form then surely the same applies to wba who are in better form than us...
West Brom (like us and like basically all of the teams outside the top 6) aren’t a bad side. They have some players who would get into most other teams outside the top 6. A combination of poor management/low confidence and things just not going your way have them where they are. It will be the same most years now the money has hit the levels it has, decent teams on paper will get relegated
One of the commentators on Sky made the point that there are managers at struggling sides that could probably do very well at Man City with their assets, but would Guardiola do well at a lower side. It's a discussion point that we've had before....sadly never likely to find out if it's true.
C'mon, that's a bit like saying that I should be looking at NINETEEN other team's form over any given period...... and the stressing about it. Chill....... as Nigel would say, you can only control the controllables!
I know what this season has done and that's virtually kill this forum. Saints not606 used to be a fun and informative place to visit with loads of great discussions and now it is like most of Saints play this season, slow and a bit boring. Even ITK regulars like Beefy and DTLW only visit very infrequently and interesting posters like TSS, who has notched up over 30,000 posts, seem to have disappeared for good..
RAWMOK is even giving up the Prediction League after this season, just as I might finally win it...!!
We played well against Bmouth, and I completely believe that we deserved the win despite the saves from McCarthy. But no way does one match suddenly turn it all around for us. We clung on for that point against Leicester, rarely troubling a team who have nothing to play for and badly off-form. Palace, who are effectively just Zaha, absolutely trashed them. And then there's that record that you highlight. If we beat Everton, I will believe again. For the first time in a long time. And yes, with back-to-back wins, you can justifiably say that a corner of sorts has been turned. But sitting here today, I see Bmouth as nothing more than a one-off. (Just go back to November, when we beat Everton at home. After just one win, people on here were changing their polling vote on MP in or out. Based on one game!!!)
I found Schad to be an interesting and informative poster. IF we have lost him it's not at all difficult to think why.
Some fall off must be due to results....even I post less when we lose. It's noticeable that a few people have reappeared because we've had a decent result. However, the greatest reduction must be due to posters not being able to accept different opinions....and then take it personally. I would just say chill out....saying that you've finished an argument, but then having another dig does not count.
