The title race could be decisive in helping us finish in third. Between them, Exeter and FGR have to play Northampton, Port Vale and Mansfield.
Who has the best games? 3rd: Northampton Exeter (H) and Barrow (A) 4th: Port Vale Newport (H) and Exeter (A) 5th: Mansfield Salford (A) and FGR (H) 6th: Rovers Rochdale (A) and Scunthorpe (H) 7th: Sutton Bradford (H) and Harrogate (A) 8th: Swindon Barrow (H) and Walsall (A) 9th: Salford Mansfield (H) and Stevenage (A) 10th: Tranmere Oldham (H) and Leyton Orient (A)
There's no such thing as an easy game when you get to this stage of the season - form, nerves, luck - all play prominent parts. Having said that, it's either us or Swindon with the easiest games on paper, however, Northampton, Mansfield and Port Vale are firmly in the driving seat for the race for third.
So it all boils down to the last game. I predicted 20 points and that’s how many we got, but we still have one game to go. Beat Scunny and Northampton fail to beat Barrow then automatic promotion is ours. Yes it would be amazing if we could put six past the basement club but it’s unlikely to happen, so we’re relying on others to help us, just like Newport and Salford did today. If not it’s the playoffs. Either way, it’s an incredible turnaround from just four months ago. Just one more game please lads! UTG!
If we end up in the play offs then I hope Swindon don't make it because they are on better form points wise over last 5 games. I think they would cause us more issues. Mansfield, Vale and Swindon could still slip out and Sutton and Tranmere are waiting to slip in. IF we end up in the play offs, who do you guys want want as first choice opponents and who you want to avoid?
We're top of the form table over the last 6 games and 10 games and on away form. We're second only to Exeter in the home form table. Hit top form at just the right time, that's for sure.
I'm a Gas head, why would I be nervous we never do things the easy way, but despite my earlier misgivings I still believe we will be in league 1 next season whether through the playoffs or automatically though I hope for the latter
It must be a exciting but nervous time for a rovers fan, dizzy new heights, blinded by the lights. Have rovers ever been higher than the 4th tier?
Back when we played at Twerton Park we beat City to go up as champions into what I believe was then the 2nd division / Championship
Good luck today (that is genuine) First priority is to win Beyond that, Scunthorpe have a habit of folding - so a nice early goal could see that happen If you start to score goals it will put Northampton under more pressure
Nope. I think I would be if there was a chance we could miss out on the play offs. Its likely it would be a play off place than top 3. So im expecting a play off place. So whats to be nervous about? If the unexpected happens and we finish top 3 then party time.
Reading the WDP this morning if both teams win and Northampton do not increase their goals for by more than 7 and win by more than Rovers win by then Rovers will be promoted because our goals scored is greater than theirs and as we will be on the same points assuming we both win even though our GD is inferior our goals scored are greater and this will put us up, so a win today unless Northampton go mad should see us in league 1 next season, Just checked that about goals for and it only applies if GD is the same, so we need another 5 goals without reply or Barrow to score
