I'm going to stick my neck out and say that Fulham are most likely down and then we have to keep our heads above just one of 5 other clubs within 3pts of each other at present. Before anyone has a go, i'm not saying that it isn't possible that we will be the unlucky club of the 6 because anything is patently possible in football, I just think that under Ralph we have enough to pick up unexpected points and a few massive 3pts even missing key players but this is all my own very personal opinion of course.
i was confident and then the last 3 games happened. will lose against arsenal. If we lose against Fulham which we could then its looks f'king bleak
Yep but what i will say is last year we were down. Totally down, IMO - especially after the home loss to Chelsea after being 2-0 up. I am normally quite positive, but I was convinced we were gone. It isn't over until its over is what I have learned
And we are nowhere near being in that predicament. And with a manager who is more capable of getting us three points. Personally, I'm not too worried. We are in general, making progress but have blotted this by dropping points at the death in the last few games.
As bad as its seems now, It's still better than being a fan in the decade long relegation battle that was the 90's. We'll be safe... Just.
It's still better than being a fan in the decade long relegation battle that was the 90's. ---------------------------- I don't agree with that. My expectations in the 1990's were exactly what we achieved. Every season we'd be Lawro's top tip to go down. Everytime we found a half decent break out player they were cruelly swept away for peanuts. But time and again we defied the odds. With the smallest ground and tiniest budget we'd occasionally upset the very biggest club. But more importantly, we'd somehow survive. Shows the amazing spirit of the people and the area.
Same for me, I remember “the great escape” as one of the best games I’ve ever been to! Now that we are where we are due to bad decisions and wasting of money, it feels a little harder to take.
If a giant asteroid lands on St Mary's while we are all inside, that would also look f'kin bleak, but it hasn't yet.
Wasn’t Lawro a player not a pundit in the 90’s? And the main reason we stayed up was MLT (with some help from pahars benali etc)
Relegated out of the European League. England Wales N.Ireland Scotland manage to stay up by a whisker. Or whisky.
Our run in looks tough to me. With my pessimistic head on i see 8 points: Bournemouth win (somehow) Huddersfield win Then a couple of draws away. That is 35 points. Not convinced cardiff will get much more either though. Maybe we squeeze an away win somewhere.
Since we generously gifted Cardiff the points, they`ve lost two home games that they would have fancied picking up points from by an aggregate of 8-1. Ralph reckons we might need 40 points to stay up - I can`t see Cardiff getting another 15, as they just don`t score enough goals.
