Not a Bristol City one but I'm convinced Lionel Messi will be at Manchester City next season - here's why:
  • Barcalona are in financial trouble and are looking to reduce their wage bill - so at least are open to him leaving
  • City can offer him 500k per week
  • The new tax rates in Spain are not liked by high earners like Messi (he has already been in trouble with the Spanish Tax authority's)
  • Messi does'nt particularily get on withh the current manager and the club have not sided completely with Messi as they have in the past
  • Sergio Aguero is Messi's best friend in football
  • Pep Guardiola may well the manager at City next season
  • While at the Etihad before an Argentina friendly, Messi said the training facitilities there were the best in the world
  • Messi is learning English
Am I making 2+2=4 or is there something in it??

Really ?? £500k a week is just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Personally, I object to players getting more than £5k a week. It's not justified no matter how rich the clubs or owners are.

Do you also object to rock stars being paid £millions per year or actors getting £40m per film etc?

Thats not a dig, I'm genuinely interested if you feel the same for those industries?

But also F1 drivers put their live on the line every race they are in.

Not in the same way that they used to. I'm not denying that they are brave, but these days it takes a freak accident (Massa, Bianchi, etc) for something seriously bad to happen.

Going round the Monza banking at 150mph+, with paper-thin wheels, no seatbelt, barely a crash helmet, and a fully loaded and very brittle petrol tank essentially strapped to your back, that takes absolute balls.

Maybe, but that risk of something freaky is always there.

I was in a snooker competition where the winner took home £1k. I can relate to the madness that is football wages.

I guess it's all relative, and I'm not sure it's even possible to accurately compare music or acting to football.

The top rock stars and actors can easily have careers spanning many decades and are often individuals who get paid vast sums for all manner of outside ventures other than just their music or acting abilities. I'd also offer that the top people in those fields reach many more people globally than even the likes of Messi do.

The best comparison I can come up with is that plenty of talented people in the music business were scalped by ruthless promoters and record executives, and before Jimmy Hill's intervention, the same was happening in English football.

There is also the recent story about Torquay United, whose new Manager found several players on the clubs books who were barely being paid the minimum working wage which is pretty shocking, even for the Vanarama Conference.

According to the Metro the odds on Messi leaving Barca at the end of the season have shortened dramatically

Ravel Morrison is a bit of a knobhead although has skill , don't know if he'll fit in with our tightly knit squad

Why are we always linked with the "nobheads" and "out of favour" players? Getting caught up in the transfer window is a dangerous game to play and if you notice it generally consists of teams like ours who didn't do their homework on time and now rely on a snake pit that rarely does anyone any favours and possibly can return and bite you in the arse.

Do you really think we have planned and are ready for this?
