Lennon? Possible Strachan mark 2? What do you think? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/26/why-leeds-should-make-aaron-lennon-their-own-stewart-downing/?
I think it would be a good move, what we'd have to look at is, does Lennon want to step down a league? Our best option would obviously be a loan period first with an option to buy. Everton are interested so our chances look bleak. If we're going down that road then we should've brought Becchio back too; both players should never have been let go in first place.
It just won't happen, no way. Becchio should definitely not be brought back. Even if he didn't engineer his move away from Leeds the way he did, he's well and truly past his best (not that I ever thought he was that great anyway, had the ball control of a brick wall).
Everyone has their thoughts on Becchio Josh, but no one can deny he scored goals regularly, which is what we need, who cares how he scored'em; no player is perfect.
We won't get Lennon and there's no chance we'd make that move in the first place. If Everton are going for him then his most likely destination will be Everton as he played their last season
Yea but the great thing about that team wasn't Becchio. It was Gradel and Snoddy, thats what we need to get back to and without those two out wide and even Howson coming from deeper he just wouldn't have got close to the amount of goals he did score. I'm not saying every striker would've got that many but it wasn't what made that team so good. You need to create chances to score em, we are lacking that. If the chances are created I believe we have strikers who can finish well enough, Wood, Antenucci etc.
Worth keeping in mind that Becchio was all set for his best ever tally in the season he left - without Snoddy, Gradel, or Howson. I agree though, not the same player he was so not really worth bringing back.
Yea but wasn't that the season McCormack had about 12 or 13 assists by the New Year as well?? Maybe not but pretty sure he did. Point is, if you have the creativity in your team most poacher type strikers will hit those targets, Billy Sharp included. We severely lack creativity, I really am not as concerned with our striking options (although they could be improved). And I still don't understand how a player like Becchio could be so successful without being able to do the very simple basics such as control a ball or make a 10 yard pass.
Tried having a quick look but I can't find anything that confirms or denies McCormack's tally, but your point is still valid I completely agree with you re poacher type strikers, was just pointing out that Becchio could clearly score goals without Snoddy and Gradel. We desperately need creativity, I agree. A few wingers and maybe even a Taarabt-style number 10 would be nice.
Would love Lennon to sign, but unfortunately there is just no way. He's still young enough to harbour hopes of forcing his way back into the England set up, and even if he had given up on that dream, is he really going to give up his £40k+ a week wages and drop a division to sign for his hometown club during what should be his peak years? If he was 32/33, I think it'd be a lot more plausible, but I fear by then he may well be on a steady decline.
Someone like Wes Holohan at Norwich would provide a lot of the creativity we lack. Not sure what norwich plans are for him now they're back in prem. He's always been important to them but never an automatic starter.
It would be the most exciting signing of the last 10 years but not a chance of us getting him, not a chance.
I'm not sure we have the ability in defensive midfield to be playing that type of luxury player. Think before we look at those sort of players we need to assess our more obvious problems
Don't be a smart arse - I was questioning how you can criticise the teams that have run out in pre season whn you haven't seen them all play! Or do you decide from comments on social media - i.e. allowing other people to make up you mind?
WJ's had over 15,000 hot dinners in those 42 years @ one per day, Leeds United have played approximately 2,500 games in that time @ average of 60 games per season
i have seen them play also its on utube get upto date at least you made me laugh abit of entertainment more than i can say for leeds performance lets hope it improves ha ha
We've finally ended our interest in Brandon Barker from Man City, apparently because Citeh won't let us have him permanently.
