Taylors got to the end of the season then his contract runs out. Wouldn't be suprised if they push Taylor down the 3rd choice and make who ever we sign 1st or 2nd. I honestly thought this might have been the case as well

It would surely have to be first choice? As we have an embargo we can only sign a loan player or an out of contract one, I can't see us signing a keeper on loan as back-up for Silvestri what would be the point, we have Taylor until the season ends, we would only have the loan player for the same length of time.

Very surprised we haven't brought any of the targets in yet with Cellino facing his hearing on Thursday. We know from experience that the majority do not go smoothly, the players who we thought we had signed and we hadn't and the back tracking to bring Cooper in. If left to whoever is in charge after Thursday (assuming the appeal fails) I wonder what powers he will have, the FL will be watching Cellino like a hawk, any whiff of him pulling the strings and they will be down on us like a ton of bricks.

Actually, I thought that we were free to sign ANY player, on the basis that we do not have 24 players over 21 in our squad. The only restriction in this circumstance is that we cannot pay more than £600k to the incoming player as a salary. I may have picked this up wrong, but I don't think so. There are other signing loopholes, such as being able to sign a permie to replace a player 21 years of age or older ("1 out, 1 in"), so long as the salary for the incomer is not more that that of the outgoing player.

Jock there seems to be a massive array of loopholes in this rule.

There seems to be one that says we can sign player cos we have less than 25 regular player in the squad. Regular meaning player more than five games so far this season

I also believe we are permitted to sign any player, the point I am trying to make is IF we are after one of these keepers on loan it must be as a number 1 surely? (no I don't mean because of a rule book, rational thinking) Why would Cellino want to take a keeper on loan who might never play (if selected as substitute) when we already have a decent reserve keeper.

Just noticed you quoted £600k a year salary, that is what I remember reading a while back making it £11.5k a week, I have recently read £10k so glad I wasn't going mad. I do believe the £600k was somewhere in the official rules.

Just thinking, perhaps it was 600k Euros (American keyboard so don't have the bloody Euro symbol :( ).
That would make it about £480k, pa or £9,230 pw(at a 1/1.24 conversion rate). Actually, this might be a reason for some of the transfers not going through - these European guys are used to counting their fortunes in Euros, so we can't compete in the bidding wars now.

End of Becchio Speculation? ... http://www.leeds.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=384233

LUFC Cellino not interested in Becchio

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is reportedly not interested in bringing Luciano Becchio back to the club.

Leeds first team coach Neil Redfearn admitted last week that he would like to see Becchio return to Leeds two-years after he left the club to join Norwich City, but Cellino has told sports journalist Simon Austinthat they are not interested.

The Argentinian, who scored 86 goals for Leeds before leaving to join Norwich, has struggled at Carrow Road and he has made just 14 appearances in two-years without scoring.

Becchio recently spent time on loan at Rotherham United, where he scored twice in five appearances before an injury cut short his loan spell. Becchio has now returned to full fitness and with Leeds desperate to add to their attacking options, Becchio was seen by Redfearn as the player to lead the attack.

Leeds have not scored in open play in their last 625 minutes, since Mirco Antenucci scored in the opening minutes of their defeat at Ipswich Town on December 6th. The lack of goals has seen Leeds slip to just one place above the relegation places.

Italian striker Leonardo Pavoletti has also been linked with a move to Elland Road but reports today suggest that Leeds are not willing to meet the players wage demands.

    Good, dont want Becchio

With the very limited amount of knowledge I have about him, Pavoletti seems like he might be worth the effort.

40% of the way through the window and not even a sniff of an incoming player (not suprised)! The only rumours are about players leaving, and the one thing we can be certain of is when they leave and if (big if) the incomers eventually arrive will be much cheaper and poorer quality than those they replace. They will all be fluent in eytie though. This is not going to end well.

Hope tomorrow brings news that just might put our club on an even keel. Cellino out.

Latest report in YEP says Cellino decision will be public by next week and not next month as originally stated. If this is accurate then I think it is safe to assume that we won't be getting any new signings at all. If that proves to be the case will those of you who dished out what was borderline abuse to the doubters accept you were wrong?

I am sure you will all understand if I make 60 have it, given the tone and content of the "I know more than the rest of you bollocks" he has dished out.

    No, but hope it's true.
    He deserves the chance.
Sadly it hasn't worked for him here.
We owe you one on the cheap for your taking that wage thieving spud sucking waste of space a couple of weeks ago.

So Sharp follows Warnock out of the door.
    Result:
Cellino gets another £500k in his fire sale before he ****s off, better than Bates, are you sure?
This looks like a very messy end, and the next owners being left next to nothing to work with.
