In terms of speed, I think that's only been criticised based on Fifa stats? They adjusted Max Aarons height by 3 inches in December, I'm not sure I trust them too much with a much more difficult to measure stat, about a less well-known player. For what it's worth, the Bundesliga stats page record his top speed this season as 32.99 km/h (ranked 147th), but equally, only 0.03 slower than Jadon Sancho (who has much higher Fifa speed stats....).
From today's press conference, Farke expects to discuss contracts with Vrancic and Tettey over the international break. Both are out of contract this summer.
Unless there's a coaching role going Tettey should hang up his boots . Mario is good enough for a 1 year extension but we probably need the squad place . Give Alex a testimonial when fans are allowed back he's a great guy and always looks so laid back .
Do you have that link, DH? I would love to check out Bundesliga stats. Edit: I think I found it - https://www.bundesliga.com
I was for giving Vrancic another year, but after seeing Rupp and Dowell I think we thank him for his service and allow him to move on
At the moment we have 7 first team players under 21 and 22 players over 21 including Tettey and Vrančić (but not Skipp), as well as Sinani who's out on loan. It then depends on who we want to recruit. Are Sørensen, Tettey, Mumba and Sitti enough options at DM? If Skipp returns then a Tettey could be considered surplus, but the fact that contract talks have begun suggests that Skipp won't be coming back. If Mario stays, we still have 3 spaces available (assuming that any players leaving will be replaced). My priority would be another quality CB. Sinani can play as a striker or WR/WL and thus could provide useful cover in 3 positions. That would leave 2 places by my count. What are the other priorities?
I agree, assuming we lose no-one other than Skipp there is no need to sell. You need a big squad for the Premier League as well.
Rumoured: Marcondes an attacking MF from Brentford. Out of contact this season. His stats are not brilliant and I can’t help thinking do we need this player? But with much speculation regarding Beundia and Cantwell (not so much) then could this be about possible replacement(s)?
I think some journalist are getting a bit lazy. basically look at anyone that contract is coming to an end and link them to us.
Will Vaulks from Cardiff as a possible replacement for Skipp? A DM who can also play at CB or RB. https://www.sheffieldunited.news/ne...nited-keen-on-cardiff-midfielder-will-vaulks/
I don’t think it’s a bad shout as I think he’s a tidy player from what I’ve seen, but I cannot help feeling maybe we could aim a bit higher if we want to stay up?
I thought the same when I first read it, but he has developed in recent years, is home grown and would require little settling in. I think back to the disappointment that was Amadou last season. Vaulks may also be rated for his versatility, as he can also play at CB or RB. Much may depend on how highly DF rates Sørensen in the DM/pivot role. If it's true that the club is offering Tettey a new contract though, I can't see Vaulks coming in as well.
The trouble is that Beukema wouldn't be eligible for a work permit and thus wouldn't be able to play for us next season. https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/norwich-city-linked-sam-beukema-7854352 We need another CB next year.
Will Vaulks for 7m Has to be the most ridiculous transfer story ive ever seen. A team coming up from League 1 and offering a million and I think that would be a fair deal. This has to be a made up story.
Josh King is another rumour currently circulating. A PL experienced striker who can also play as an AM either out wide or behind the striker could be useful. He's out of contract this summer but signing on fees and wages could be high. Here is the Pinkun's take on it: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/norwich-should-make-move-for-king-7857138
Beukema CB apparently is the teams highest scorer! Not bad for a CB. Just think if Grant Hanley had scored 7 goals this season we would be surprised but delighted.
Josh King is an interesting one. As a player, I can see him fitting with us in that CAM/Second striker role, offering goals from that role. As a signing, comparisons to Drmic are obvious. His stock has fallen a little over the last 2 years, had injuries, but he's not done yet. However he's a few years older than Drmic, and there won't be a lot of resale value. If he flops on a multi-year deal, it'll be expensive and hard to shift.
