Ireland are having to play two "finals" to top the group and another to even make it through to the semis. If they meet England in the sf, they might be pretty beat up by then. France v England final if the dice fall right?

Wales 40 - Australia 6. Unbelievable!! The way Groups C and D are emerging, Wales and England look to be in pole position with every chance of making it to the semis! If Ireland and France emerge Victorious from their half of the draw, it would be the first time that no Southern Hemisphere team is in the semi-final line up, let alone the final. But you suspect oñe of SA or NZ will make the semi such is their experience.

Rather typical really as it was 13-6 when I turned it over, everything seemed to happen in the second half when I was watching something else <grr>

Would be an ideal opportunity to give some of the fringe players some game time going into the knockout rounds and to rest a couple more of the first XV chaps

TBF this is actually a good thing given we have Fiji next up. Samoa play a very similar style of rugby to Fiji so hopefully England can use this game as a learning experience.

A very disappointing Fiji are struggling against Portugal, losing 10-17 with just over 15 minutes left. As it stands they will just scrape through because of their head-to-head against Australia.

Portugal get their first ever win at a World Cup, getting a try to go ahead right at the close. Final score Fiji 23-24 Portugal, so Fiji get a losing bonus point and finish second in Pool C. England await them in the quarter final.

Australia go home :emoticon-0136-giggl
