My wife and I also know his wife - and by coincidence, we bumped into her a couple of years ago in the Richmond Hill Hotel, we had been to Wimbledon and Sarra was staying there the night before a Saturday of Summer Tests matches: she was hosting from the TV studios the programme covering a couple of matches.
Yes - he lives only a few miles from the Wales training base in the Vale of Glamorgan.
I suspect much will depend on Farrell - will he stay in Ireland or could he replace Borthwick: timing is everything?
The improvement in the Welsh performance yesterday might even attract some other ‘big-hitters’ who may have thought that the cupboard was bare.
WG really had brought Wales to a bad place. I hope his legacy is not too damaged. Plenty of positives to take from yesterday. Ireland have been stuttering along now for 6-8 months. The accuracy is not there and too many errors. They can still dig deep when needed to pull out a result but I think we’ve peaked and are on a downward trajectory. We have a world of good young players but not enough of them being fed into the panel.

Some performance by France, some of their attacking play was a delight to watch.... Score a tad unfair on Italy who contributed hugely to the game, but in the end the French were just so good.....
Is that a record Six Nations score? I can't recall a score over 70...

There is fame and ignominy wrapped into one with the record for highest score in Six Nations history. But who has it?
Well in 2001, England got the record for most points scored by one team, and the match has the record for highest cumulative scoreline, when the English won 80-23 against Italy, at Twickenham.
In that match, England scored ten tries, with Jonny Wilkinson landing nine conversions and four penalties. With a try to his name too, the legendary fly-half finished with a personal haul of 35 points – yes, you guessed it, that’s also the record for most points scored by one player in a Six Nations match.
Also contributing to the highest score in Six Nations history that day was Austin Healey (pictured above) who scored two for England, as did Iain Balshaw. With Wilkinson’s one, and tries for Ben Cohen, Lawrence Dallaglio, Will Greenwood, Mark Regan and Joe Worsley, it was a blockbuster day for fans of tries.
As a consolation, the Italians scored tries through Carlo Checchinato and Denis Dallan, with Andrea Scanavacca getting both conversions and adding three penalty kicks.
That day, Wilkinson said post-match: “It was a difficult game today” So you can only imagine what the scoreline would have been had it been dubbed an easy day…
If you’re interested, the most points ever scored by a losing side also came in 2021, but it wasn’t Italy that day against England, with their 23 – it was in fact by France that same year, scoring 35 points in defeat to Wales. The French repeated that trick again in 2015 as they scored 35 points in a loss against England.

To do that to Ireland 2nd half without Dupont was stunning. That's was the France of old, and showed the difference between themselves and everyone else in this tournament at the moment. Still scratching my head how we beat them lol
If there is some miracle and Scotland win in France (yeah, I know, but England beat them…) England could win the Championship and rugby can officially be declared a joke.
Scotland have won in Paris as recently as 2021 and if they are at their best and France have an off day who knows? England need a bonus point win in Cardiff to put a bit of pressure on...
I have never said this before in my life but come on Scotland
