Yeah, with your history....keep up.m the downplay....wish England football team would employ the same strategy
I never thought any of your previous sides were good enough to win a World Cup, but this side I believe can. Obviously I hope we do, and I've backed France, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if you win it !

Tournament sport is and always has been fraught with danger. The expectations of some fans can regularly be unrealistic. Tier 2 nations are improving year on year. Look at Uruguay, Fiji and Portugal. National pride and 4 years of prep are at stake. It’s hard to know exactly how much they have improved measured against Tier 1 squad players. Either Frances, Wales and NZs squad players aren’t to the required standard or these emerging countries are improving.
Despite what some think, I’m not underplaying Ireland’s chances. I’m on record as saying I think we genuinely are the best team right now and are contenders. But….we have a stupid group, have limited resources in key positions and are all traumatised by previous world cups.the felling in this country is ‘should we dare to believe’. Understand where we have come from. Beat SA and I’ll truly believe. Lose and we have a knockout game against Scotland.
the result and more importantly the performance against Tonga last night was actually impressive. Very very clinical.
