That bottom line is significant. Although you don't get that at weekends as it's members only till the afternoon. It is a toss up still, con to Clyne is I don't know anyone there but a massive pro is how close it is to my house and there are good facilities. Would be pretty much my local. Pennard is a bit further away. Better course though.
Doing my head in a bit now. I'd made my mind up to leave, set the ball rolling on Pennard, changed my mind or had some doubts about there, decided Clyne would be the one and then started to enter the summer comps at my place which made me realise I want to stay. Come down to a straight choice of staying at the most difficult gold course in the area with the best hole variety where I know everyone in the knowledge that in a prolonged heavy rain spell some of the holes flood. Or do I go to an easier inferior course which is only half a mile from my house but I don't know anyone but the club house/facilities are better? Three months to decide I reckon.
Golf is golf. They're all good courses. Reckon after being a member of one club for a good few years I'd get bored anyway. That coupled with not being able to play when you have a bit of rain I'd probably swap. Especially when you consider you're not retired and able to play everyday, when you only have the ability to play at a weekend and the course is ****ed I'd change. I say this having not played pennard or your place so not really in the best position to advise. Issue with Clyne though is getting covered in animal **** when it is wet and open...
Again, you make a significant point, which is the boredom one. I never get bored with the layout at Swansea Bay. It's solid, there's a massive variation, there is only one, maybe two, holes you could describe as slightly ordinary. You're right about sheep and cow **** at Clyne too. I've ruled Pennard out. When I DO get old the massive benefit of Clyne is the two minute drive. Just picked up my repaired 54 degree vokey on the way into work, now got four wedges in the bag!
Being as you have so many good courses round you, I'd want to swap just for the variation. It's not saying your course is boring. It's just the desire for something different.
