I think the first Star Wars was shown in the pictures ( Dorchester ?) on George St. next to Trog Bar. It had been closed but reopened just for that film.
I was never a Bob Monkhouse fan until I saw him live at Bailey's, he was one of the funniest professional performers I have ever seen.
I've no idea Balkan. To be honest I didn't even know there was a Cinema next to "Trog Bar" (I think it was called Lasers in my day if I'm thinking of the same place). I "think" I remember seeing Star Wars in ABC but if you tell me I'm wrong I'll not argue as like I said I was a bain at the time. It could have been a later rerun? I think they did that quite a lot back then. I know I saw some Disney films at Cecile and that must have been decades after they originally came out. I also think I saw Swiss Family Robinson at ABC with my Granddad and again that would have been at least 15 years after it was originally made if I did or maybe it was a similar film.
ABC had hook on letters at the front that they used to display which films were showing. Someone changed the Star Wars letters to arS Warts.
What a great position the Bun in the Oven had. The owners must have become mega rich. How many swimming pools you could fill with the vomit of drunken people queuing up who were convinced they were hungry when actually they were beginning to feel ill.
If I see anything described as "comedy" I avoid it. It usually means it's not funny. I watched clips from Life of Brian the other night and I still laugh at most of it.
I went to a conference today and the guy leading the seminar was talking at the front when a photographer walked into the room. The guy stopped and pointed at the photographer and said: "That's the guy we were talking about. That's what he looks like". I thought it was funny.
I remember going to the Dorchester as a kid, to see a Herbie film, they had a replica of Herbie on the roof of the entrance, it seemed amazing at the time.
No problems at all, I struggle to remember last week. I have bits I remember from years ago but the details have all gone. How those people who remember which games they saw, who scored and who played **** do it I have no idea. I guess they didn't do as much drink and drugs as I did, oh and a few bumps on the head whilst crashing motorbikes won't have helped. I also remember the Herbie car at the Dorchester,
