I don't think he has the tools. Playing alongside prime Jan and Toby masked the fact that he is clumsy on the ball, bullied in the air, awful at passing and has no positional awareness or anticipation. The latter can be coached and improve with experience. The first 3 are down to raw ability.

 

Are we playing tonight because BT sport haven't mentioned us yet , it's all man u and fat Frank so far

 

In that 3-3 with LASK, he stepped out to intercept a ball that he was never getting anywhere near...and 10 seconds later, he failed to come out to intercept one that was his, all day long.

He gets tight when he should back off and dives in when there's no need.

On occasion, he has looked decent enough for Columbia (not recently) but I can't remember his last good game for us.

He’s beyond help IMO. Against Wycombe he should be ok but long term he’s not the answer

 

Not liking the look of that lineup, to be honest. Very wonky. No right-back and three wingers.
Wycombe are struggling badly at the moment and we don't want to give them any encouragement.

 

I'm hoping we've given him a run of games to put him in the shop window. If he isn't sold this window he needs to be moved on in the summer together with Dier and they can be replaced by Sergio Ramos on a free plus a decent CB in his prime.

He's injured. Doherty is too, according to Mourinho. Nothing serious for either of them, though.
