If there are 2 leagues and only one promotion spot then to play the top teams in each league at the end is fair enough. What would be totally wrong is the top 3 in each league having a mini knockout competition to decide. The male leagues don't have 2 leagues so it doesn't apply. I would say though that there should be 2 up and 2 down in the woman's game. The one up thing does make it sound like the old entry system into the football league where everything was done to keep the Conference winners out and the old guard in. If you remember they had to apply to join and the league teams voted yes or no. None of them voted yes in case they were bottom the next year. Now that was barbaric as some clubs were kept out after coming top year on year.
