South Africa's former rugby star Hannes Strydom has died in a car accident at the age of 58.
He was part of the Springbok team that famously won the 1995 Rugby World Cup after the end of apartheid in 1994.
Strydom gained 21 Springbok caps in his career between 1993 and 1997.
Former teammate and close friend Kobus Wiese told local media that details of the accident were still vague, but the vehicle Strydom was travelling in was hit by a minibus taxi.
He is the fifth player from the 1995 Springbok team to have died.
The others include Ruben Kruger in 2010, Joost van der Westhuizen in 2017, and Chester Williams and James Small in 2019. Coach Kitch Christie also died in 1998.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of the four teenagers found dead in their upturned car in North Wales, missing since Sunday. So very sad.
Must have been a bad crash to kill all of them. So young. RIP

Venables later said that his transfer to Second Division QPR changed his life, and stated that "I cannot think of a transfer blessed with so much good fortune".[28] Initially however, Rangers could only manage mid-table finishes in the 1969–70 and 1970–71 campaigns, with Venables scoring 18 goals in 83 games.[29] Chairman Jim Gregory opted to sack Les Allen and appoint Gordon Jago as manager, who took Rangers up to fourth-place in 1971–72 – just two points behind promoted Birmingham City.[30] Once coach Bobby Campbell departed Loftus Road for Arsenal, Jago allowed Venables to supervise the club's training sessions.[31] Rangers continued to progress, and won promotion in 1972–73 after securing runners-up spot with an 11-point gap over third-place Aston Villa.[32]

Christ that is a shock, one of our greats. RIP...
I don’t really remember him as a player but we were a huge stepping stone in his managerial career to Barcelona and England. Hounded out of the England job by our tabloids but the team he built and the way he got them to play at Euro 96 was something very special.
