The fourth player of that fantastic team to have passed away. What a fantastic day it was for me a 11 year old to see it. God Bless Ron

USA Senator John McCain ( me neither ) has died age 81. I've never heard of him but Sky News seems to be making a big deal of it.

Am truly surprised that anyone wouldn't know of himUSA Senator John McCain ( me neither ) has died age 81. I've never heard of him but Sky News seems to be making a big deal of it.
He was a very popular American Senator, ex Vet, l believe ........... winner of a Purple Heart etc.
Continued to work right up until recently, even though he knew he didn't have long to go.
Good man with principle.

And ran for President in 2008, losing to Obama. Injuries he got under torture in the 5 years he was prisoner, handicapped him the rest of his life. RIP.Not only a Vietnam vet, McCain was a POW. Rambo got him out, I think.
You should be ashamed of yourself Ninesy. McCain was a big hitter in American politics and a pretty unique figure. While I am not incredibly familiar with his policy thoughts I doubt I would be a fan of them, however he was clearly a man of integrity and honesty, all too rare nowadays.USA Senator John McCain ( me neither ) has died age 81. I watch a lot of US news channels, even FoxNews for the sheer idiocy. McCain always features heavily. He lost the use of I think his left arm after the 5 years in solitary confinement and torture by the VC. Always held a pen in that hand to deflect that.
He came across as a decent man, slightly right of centre but a fair politician - if such a thing exists. He initially supported Trump but after the infamous'pussy grab' tapes he disowned him and was as far as I can see one of the few trying to hold Trump to account.
Trump has shown his lack of integrity by dismissing that McCain was a war hero by saying something along the lines of 'He's no hero, he was captured, that's not a hero to me'. All this from the man whose father arranged for him to dodge the Viet Nam War draft.
Well said. At a time where there's far too much 'party-over-country' in US politics, and so many (sadly on either side) have been bought by donors and lobbyists (not to mention foreign powers) McCain was a man of principle. whether you agreed or disagreed with his politics, he was an honest, straight-forward mn who would give his views and be able to support those views with honest, courteous debate. His war record speaks volumes, and he's going to be missed in the Senate.McCain was everything that Trump isn't - principled, dignified and brave. He told his family that he didn't want Trump to attend his funeral and this request has been passed on to the White House. Obama is expected to give a eulogy, though. A delicious parting snub to the narcissist POTUS.
Garfunkel still clinging on I take it?Playwright Neil Simon has snuffed it too (a few days ago). He was something like 673.
