My Dad died in 1977. I don't know the exact date he died, but his funeral was on Derby day. He was a big racing fan, and a few days before he died (he had lung cancer) I asked him what he fancied for the race. 'The Minstrel', he said, so after he had gone I put a couple of quid on in his memory. We were back in the flat after the funeral, and I put the race on the TV, which met with some disapproval. 'I've put a bet on for Dad', I said, so we all watched the race. The whole place cheered that horse home. It gets easier mate, but you will never stop missing him. Think of the good times and how lucky you are to have known him for so long.

I remember seeing him play for them in the 50's I think, standing on a box on the terracing at Coventry.
