RIP Denis, what a player he was. Probably the best headerer of a ball from a standing jump there's ever been, especially for his height. Lethal in the box , could pounce on any half chance. The last of that magic trio to pass, but by no means less than the other 2. A giant of the game has departed. RIP Joan , another giant, but of the stage and screen. Without doubt, one of the finest actresses of all time. Grim times
I’m sure there’s been plenty elsewhere but caught a lovely tribute to Law on Sky Sports News this morning with various goals and clips I hadn’t seen before and learned a few things I wasn’t aware of. I’ve seen the back heel against United but didn’t know it was his last ever goal nor that the match was ended by the ref on 85 minutes due to pitch invasions. Only Scot to win the Ballon d’Or. Only had a career at all due to eye surgery which I imagine was quite risky and new at the time.
Garry Brooke has died aged 64. Brooke, who won two FA Cups with Spurs in 1981 and 1982, passed away on Saturday morning RIP
I can remember Dennis Law well as a player in the 70’s. As someone living in the other side of the globe, watching The Big Match with Brian Moore and picking up a weekly Shoot magazine, albeit monthly, Law was always a standout player both in skill & his long blonde hairdo. A real character of that time. RIP Dennis Law.
RIP Garth Hudson of The Band, last of the line Yes, I'm the son of hippy parents, but Dylan and The Band, a big musical background to my childhood years Hudson, Helm and Robbie Robertson true artists Playing The Weight now raising a glass
With you on this one. I watch the last waltz quite often, brilliant footage of some outstanding artists.
