please log in to view this image AS A club we were saddened to hear of the passing of PC John Gerard following a recent battle with illness. Known by many QPR fans, John was part of the Metropolitan Police unit which travelled up and down the country with the R's faithful for over eight years. John also ran his popular X account, Met Police QPR FC (@MPSQPRFC) which provided Rangers supporters with useful information ahead of our trips across the country, such as popular pubs as well as travel updates – a helpful platform for many. He quickly become a recognisable figure among R's fans, with his kind and approachable nature ensuring safe and organised away trips. Everyone at QPR would like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to John’s family and friends. May he rest in peace.
I remember that Everton team in my last year at school, the best footballing side by far that season. Ball, Harvey and Kendall ran the show. Husband was Joe Royle's striking partner and they ended up clear champions as Leeds finished 2nd as they did several times in that era. My French teacher Miss Jones who we all fancied was an Everton supporter and we got regular match reports (in English) from her most weeks. Those were the days. RIP Jimmy...
RIP Vince Power. What times we used to have at the Mean Fiddler. Vince Power, promoter who opened the Mean Fiddler and went on to become king of pop festivals – obituary (telegraph.co.uk)
RIP Steve Harley. I was never a huge fan but I liked his quirky early seventies style with Judy Teen, Come up and see me etc. Saw him live a few years ago, an odd occasion during lockdown in a field near Marlow where we had to stay in a zone around the car with pre ordered food (it was a Tom Kerridge thing) and drink. He was supporting Squeeze who were brilliant. Poor Steve was really uncomfortable with the format, not being able to see any faces in the audience as we were all so far away.
He was supposed to be playing at a gig locally to us, and it was cancelled...assume due to ill health. RIP
Two good albums in Menagerie & Psychomodo. Another person lost tragically to cancer. Thanks Steve for the music and the memories. RIP
