Beckenbauer's contribution was much more than just on the field ............... a true football icon.
Vale Franz.

Footnote - The number of ex football player dying from dementia is astounding.......... & growing.
I played for 11 year but one incident really stuck in my mind.

As an 11 year old, heading an old wet leather football, inflated way past is due, remembering the pain of heading that ball, has always stuck with me, even after 51 years........................... hope it doesn't come back to bite me.

if you look at the film embedded in the report, it shows the Ospreys in training (albeit 2 or 3 years ago).

During that testing period, one day they had some strange (very high readings) from before training started. On investigation they found that some of the guys had had a game of Heading Tennis ….

No wonder they’re (The FA) limiting the amount of heading players do in practice.

Rest in Peace, Derrick. A club like ours can't afford to lose fans like Derrick, he attended every game and was an ever present on the supporters coach to away games. He sadly passed away on Sunday, Rest in Peace.

Anybody seen the Brian Wilson biopic about the making of Pet Sounds and the later struggles he went though whilst on prescription drugs? Very good film - the woman that saved him from the meds his doctor put him on, Melinda, who he ended up marrying passed away

Yes Steels,
As Brian said yesterday or alike, the movie was timid, it was a lot more over the top than depicted.
My brother & l have followed the BB's since day dot, seen them in concert in Sydney in 76, saw Brian & his brilliant band in Brisbane 2003.
Pretty much well versed on everything The Beach Boys did over the years.

Try reading ................
Heroes And Villains: The True Story Of The Beach Boys Paperback – 1 August 1995

............... it will blow your sock off. All the excesses, anything & everything possible, as told be ex wives, the various additional band members, managers, record producers, etc.
A brilliant read indeed.
Brian has been chaperoned all his life.
Melinda saved him and let him just be him.
Others deserve credit but no more than Melinda.
A marvelous lady.

Ffs, I met him once when out with the missus in Barnes. Only chatted with him for about 10 minutes , but he was a lovely bloke who wasn't up himself at all and was only too happy to chat to whoever sitting outside the pub. ****ing 50 , no age at all and another victim of that **** disease. RIP Jonnie, a thoroughly decent human being. Bloody depressing
