I'm watching Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond The Lobby on BBC2 - this week they are in Londons most exclusive hotel, The Lanesborough in Kensington. **** me, cheapest rooms start around £5K a NIGHT!! Presidential suite over £27K a night.

Never heard of the place before, but it's insane. You have your own, dedicated butler at your service 24hrs a day, the attention to every single detail puts my OCD to shame, guests have included the Queen, Michael Jackson, Diana, Madonna and Gorbachev.

Place is stunning, but not really my cup of tea - especially as you have to call your butler to get a cuppa - no kettle or tea bags in the rooms <laugh>

A full menu for your dogs available, and your butler will take your dog for a walk, or even sit in your suite to keep them company whilst you enjoy an evening on the town.

Afternoon tea slightly more affordable at a mere £55 a head.

My wife was born in there. Back when it was St. George's Hospital of course.

Steels has got me into the Podcast “Conflicted”.
All about Middle East, 9/11, world terrorism, etc etc etc.
Bit of Russia later on as well so I hear.
Brilliant listening that takes in both sides….those who think they have an understanding of all this stuff might have their eyes opened….I did

Woah there. I got Steels into that. So you're just my Conflicted grandchild.

Managed to watch half of it so far. Good watch. So interesting to see the square buildings that were used almost everywhere in the new towns of that era, and then these interspersed irregular sculptures. I have liked the totems that I’ve seen so far. I am just at the design/make stages for my own garden sculpture commissions which are 1-2mtrs in size, which is a new direction for us since last year (working with a metal sculptor), so looking forward to these being completed and hoping to get some new pieces designed and into a couple of sculpture parks next year if we can get them accepted.
Photos please!!

More consumer advice than review…..if you are an Eon customer for gas/electricity I think you can fix the price you pay to the current standard variable tariff price for the next year. Could be good news, as although the price has gone up a lot it’s going to go up a lot more……don’t know why they are offering this or who qualifies to get it, but my wife spotted it on one of those consumer monkey programmes yesterday and apparently we benefitted.

Nice one SW

Reminded me of this, which I saw on Monday, a part of the Copenhagen Festival of Lights, apparently an annual thing. I actually saw it in the daytime and up close - it’s made entirely from old bits of used plastic. Without the lights on the gradation in colours from orange at the bottom to yellow on the top is easier to see. In a great setting right on the Harbour.
