Great thread this (as Stan previously pointed out).
Good for expanding knowledge and maybe trying out some new things.
Just been looking at the history of Fleetwood Mac after Strollers post and their history is quite interesting. I knew some but not a lot.
Almost as many past members as Hawkwind :)

I’ll soon be trying out some poncy Azerbaijani red wine after Stans recommendation

There's a great documentary floating about on them, maybe Sky Arts or BBC4, about the making of Rumours. ****, they really hated each other at one stage.

not having watched a bond movie since casino royale is daniel craig any good as bond

He's pretty good actually, aided by some pretty decent scripts and a ****load of CGI action effects.
Looks like a pretty good evening of escapism and entertainment to me.
I think Craig is as good as any of the best Bond actors to be fair, it will be interesting to see who the next choice will be!

Bob and Paul back with a new series of Gone Fishing.

I thought it might be getting into overkill territory, but it’s still magical stuff.
I’m not sure quite why but that program always leaves me feeling somewhat melancholy. I still watch it and enjoy it. Perhaps it’s because, as Mrs Iwas so elegantly puts it, “You’re just a miserable old ba5tard anyway”.

Just watching the second episode.

I can only speak for myself but I identify with these lads very strongly - about my age, obviously I love their sense of humour, the melancholy comes from the acute sense of mortality and limited time that they share, sometimes explicitly sometimes less so, while determined to quietly enjoy things and have a laugh. I think that comes from them both having serious health scares, which several on here can identify with. I’ve probably over thought this.

Melancholy is a great word, and a feeling I rather enjoy.

Do you enjoy fishing or can you watch this without any interest in angling. I was about nine years old when my uncle Ted took me fishing. We spent two days without catching a single fish. It put me off for life.

I have no interest whatsoever in fishing, without any **** experience of it. Quite happy to watch two old geezers for half an hour while they muck about though.

I've just downloaded S1 Ep1. Five minutes in and it reminds me of 'The Trip' with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

Have you not seen it before? I liked The Trip, but this is much more authentic, they are not pretending to be ‘versions’ of themselves.

No. I don't watch much telly unless I'm pointed towards it. I don't have the telly on during the day unless it's sport, and then I often forget regarding the cricket. If no one's home and I'm home alone the telly isn't switched on. When I was in the Fire Brigade it used to really annoy me if that I was sat there reading a book and someone used to come in and switch the news on. It used to drive me mad.

The Trip had better impersonations.
I don't watch news channels.
I watch sport and the odd film and box sets, although I haven't watched one in the last year..
I'm very selective over box sets. I struggle with anything box set wise that contains more than three series.

Just finished the first series of 'Ted Lasso' on Apple TV. Thought my wife would turn it off as it is football related, but she and I have both thoroughly enjoyed it. Some real laugh out loud moments. Well worth a watch if you can.

Need to find some time to sit down and get into Season 2. Really enjoyed the first season.
