We could be mathematically safe as soon as Thursday now if Southampton lose at Leicester. I'd prefer to see Southampton get a shock win though and bring 8th place into our own hands, and into play on the calculations!

Definitely. The champions have been decided already, the top 4 have a huge gap to 5th who also has a gap to 6th so the top of the league has already stopped being an issue at all. There's a 5 point gap to the relegation zone. This may be the least interesting last month in the history of the Premier League so I'm all for anything that threatens to shake it up.

I agree. Having said that, as boring as it is for the league, at the beginning of the season we would all have jumped at the chance to be playing a completely meaningless game in mid-late April. Actually, not just the beginning of the season - a month ago!!

Don't pay any attention to other teams so I wasn't interested anyway.

Not really meaningless financially however - each place in the league is worth roughly an additional £2m in PL Prize Money/TV Rights etc

So, if we can go from 10th to 8th then we get roughly an extra £4m, or Dubravka's transfer fee...

In addition a really strong finish to the season will make the story of our coming up from the Championship and smashing the PL an attractive factor to potential new signings. The more we can seem like a club going places under Rafa and the less like a yo-yo team battling for survival the more chance we have of signing players like Kennedy permanently (and holding on to players like Lascelles!)

You can always follow the lower end of the league just below the PL. Things are hotting up there for a tense finish<laugh>

In all honesty I follow it pretty closely. It really isn't very tense unless you support Barnsley, Bolton or Birmingham.

You could say the Championship was past tense for Sunderland

Be kind to our six-fingered neighbours. To them it is as tense as it comes<laugh>
