Did he kick up much of a fuss when he left? If not I don't see anything wrong with his departure. We were a club in crisis. Unless you had some kind of emotional attachment it would be very hard to turn down a much improved wage as well as a chance to play in the PL and Europe (maybe not CL can't remember if Spurs were in it or not). If he'd stayed with us and we hadn't have bounced back in the way we did, he may have missed out on his one big chance.

Would have him back as back up, would hate to split up Taylor and Coloccini as they have conceded the least goals this season..

However he is leaving Spur's due to lack of games, so doubt we will get him, plus wages is a issue.

He had to leave, there was no way we could afford his wages in the championship, so I hold no resentment towards him infact he did Newcastle a favour!

no no no NO NO NO NOOOOOOOO.

He left us in the lurch and left for a bigger club (yer thats right he did apparently) so I say let him rot. I hate these players who leave because they think they get better.

Theres only really one player in recent times thats done any better and thats Parker.

The rest have flunked so badly they are sleeping at night crying thinking "why did i think the grass was greener on the other side"

    Jenas
    Bassong
    Beye
    Carroll
    Duff

I'd rather send Carr to France again (surely he must have a house over there by now) and tell him to pick up a new Bassong for 500k.

    He was a bargain.

I'll always love him just for the 'rugby' tackle on Jones when playing the Mackems and somehow getting away with it.

    Good times.

Couldn't really have him back after his behaviour here when he wanted to leave. Supposedly him and Martins were a disgrace, particularly at Orient. I do rate him though, I'm just not sure if I want another sulk back when we have such a settled squad. Anyway he ain't leaving one club because of a lack of action to go to another for the same treatment. He wouldn't get in our team. And he is an awful full back so I'd forget that option. Was it against the mackems when he played there and didn't have a clue? Or maybe Smoggies, can't remember. I'd prefer him to Ridgewell as I don't rate Ridgewell but I don't think either is the answer for us.

Duff has done very well since leaving us, playing regularly in Europe and helping Fulham to consistent top 10 finishes. Carroll hasn't flunked. He's made a good career decision for me, going to a top club. Also signs against West brom he is ready to kick start his Anfield career. The rest fair enough but judging Carroll already, and ignoring Duffs success is a tad unfair for me. Carroll is top class player and will do very well.

I dont see anything wrong with him, like quite a few have said, he didnt have any sort of emotional attachment with us, had no reason to stay and we had no real reason to keep him. Yea he was good for us in the relegation season but we had others easily capable of getting us back up as we proved. Although im not sure about some of you saying we needed his wages off the bill and thats why he went... If that was the case surely we would of tried to offload colo instead?

His wages definetly weren't a problem - I heard at the time that he only got paid about £2,000 a week lol

Emotion aside, we're looking for a backup CB who can play at a solid level. Bassong is looking to be the main man somewhere (fair play, he's good enough).

QPR would probably be the best move for him. Nailed on starter and they've got money. He's not the kind of player we are looking for.
