Like G, I wanted Rafa back or for us to go for Klopp. We were also killing Martinez when he was meeting for coffee with senior Henry and look at what he has done with Everton! Wrong about that one too ( although not LFC related).

  2. Klopp wanted to join us too. No chance he'll join the mancs though :bandit:

I seriously didn't want Martinez and thank **** we didn't get him. Can't stand him!

  5. I like the way he gets his teams to play, its his appearance and attitude. He would have got my support still and I'm sure I'd have come round eventually though, afterall, I'm sure you'll remember Rodgers irritating me too with his "looking down his nose" thing in interviews <laugh>

btw, coincidence that both times we have had awful away kits we have had great seasons in the league? That 2009 grey was terrible I thought.

No plan B Rodgers, remember those wums and shouts as well.

Well we have played 3-5-2, 4-4-2 diamond, 4-2-3-1, pressed, passed, countered, the lot. I think he has some variety in there!

I actually like Martinez. However I do think he should have spoken up himself [instead of Whelan] when the old 'he was offered the job and turned it down' comment was making headlines. Ayre strenuously denied it, he had no need to, but Martinez should have come out and said the truth of the situation.

  10. The no Plan B claims were right in a short sighted extent; we don't have a different type of player that will come on and change the game such as a big man up top and Brod has no intention of seeking different styled players. However, he does seek players that can play numerous roles and wants options within his squad meaning he can change things around on the pitch. So he does have a Plan B to the more observant viewers.

There's a reason that would be tough to hold against anyone because quite simply it was true during the initial three or four months. The thing many were asking for was for Rodgers to adapt his systems (at least initially) to the players we had. That's exactly what he's done. <ok> The style of football Rodgers seemed to worship and the style he initially tried to implement was different to the way we play now. It's much more varied now, an adapted English version if you like. It's actually a lot more typical to that of an 80's Liverpool team than a Barcelona team (just a quicker tempo now with far worse defending <laugh>).

I wouldn't blame much those who underestimated Rodgers, and thought myself he was a bit tactically naive. He's proven the vast majority wrong.

    How?

He's an ambitious, young and avid student of the game and thus his learning curve packed a lot of potential - which is always easy to underestimate.

Secondly, his man management skills are fantastic, more so than we could have foreseen. Coupled with the fact that we heavily rely on youngsters on the up (Couts, Sterling, Flano, Hendo) and unconventional actors (Suarez, Sturridge, even Gerrard) - made him instrumental and pretty bang-on for the task.

I never wanted Sturridge either and wasnt bowled over by Rodgers

Isnt there a quote from Tobes (when we were interested in Martinez) and him absolutely slaughtering him?

He's not doing bad at Everton is he?!

    Power of hindsight though

I was furious that we didn't sign another attacking player in the summer. To be fair it worked out really well for us and it just gave Sterling the chance to take his place in the team. We got lucky with hardly any attacking injuries, Suarez & Sturridge being on form all season & having no Europe to contend with really helped us in hindsight.
