One of Spurs' most obvious mistakes was pulling out out the reserve league. They had their reasons (whether right or wrong) but I don't think they have benefited from the decision.

I used to really enjoy watching the reserves, cheap to watch, no crowd hassles, no transport issues, and with the chance of being able to say "I saw him when he was in the reserves and an unknown." when seeing someone début for the 1st team.

Watching the NextGen side isn't quite the same ...... half the games are abroad and a number of the games feature ineligible players <steam>

Spurcat, does Nathan Byrne have dreadlocks? His name is ringing bells for me but I haven't seen our youth play for a couple of years. I remember seeing a left back with dreds who was of the winger masquerading as a full back mould, it was 2/3 years ago in the youth cup against Watford at WHL, would that have been him?

Do you mean this lad Shaquille Coulthirst...

Spurcat, have you seen this one play?

.... I hope he's good at football, because he's got a face like Ronaldinho's uglier brother! <yikes>

I don't think Falque will make it in English football so I was surprised we signed him, he's a number 10 really and hasn't really worked for us when played on the wing. The only number 10s that make it in the England these days are either those that fit into the Premiership blueprint of being fast and strong with a certain amount of skill or an exceptional talent, with touch, passing and reading of the game that rivals the best in the country. I might be being harsh and I'm likely premature with my judgement but I think he's your Taraabt type, he'll find keeping the ball away from defenders almost a full time job before he can even start looking up and showing his skill. In the Championship he may find that he has the abillity to get the better of defenders more comfortably but nothing I've seen from him playing or in his history appears to point to him being sufficiently gifted.

Caulker and Naughton are obviously already of Premiership quality and I think they'll be good players for us if they stay, Caulker perhaps having the potential to make him a great player for us. I like what I see from Carroll and really hope he makes the grade or atleast gets the opportunity at Spurs. Townsend, Kane and Fredericks look okay but if we turn into a regular top 4 team over the next for years, I can't see them making the grade. As I've mentioned before I've only seen Adam Smith once and that was 2/3 seasons ago, when I thought he very composed considering his age and I'm pleased to hear he hasn't dropped off the map since, despite me barely hearing about him.

The rest I have a very limited knowledge of or I don't rate at all.

If it was 2/3 years ago, then I am sure you must be thinking of Sam Cox. He had dreadlocks and played both RB and LB. He was released by the club 2 seasons ago and signed for Barnet. He has never really featured for then since Lawrie Sanchez became manager, although he did make a substitute appearance for them against a Spurs XI this pre-season. I believe he is currently out on loan to a non-league side.

Yeah, wasn't particularly impressed with him(Cox). I've Googled Nathan(probably should've done it earlier) and he played in a Brentford game I saw last season, which explains why I recognised the name. Problem solved :)

I think you mean Souleymayne Coulibaly. He's very talented, but also very raw. Not dissimilar to a young Justin Fashanu if you know what I mean. He's gone off the boil after a flying start to his career at the club. His time will come.

He's in the Academy squad instead of the reserves. He (and, from some accounts, Milos Veljkovic) will step into the reserves in a year or two.

Goalkeepers
Ben Alnwick - Never looked great when I have seen him and doesn't seen to be getting any better.
Jordan Archer - Got in the Scotland U21 squad, so must have something about him.
David Button - Give him a few more years.
Oscar Jansson - No idea.
Mirko Ranieri - Still very young.

Defenders
Nathan Byrne - Could be a decent player
Steven Caulker - Get him back next season!
Bongani Khumalo - Highly doubt it, can hardly cut it at Championship level at the moment.
Kyle Naughton - Maybe not at us, but could be a decent player for a mid table side.
Adam Smith - I like him, could be a good future for him.
Bruno Uvini* - Ask youtube

Midfielders
John Bostock - Not really, still young though.
Tom Carroll - I would say yes, can we grow him a bit more though?
Cristian Ceballos - Anyone from Barca's academy is decent!
Iago Falque - Looks better suited to European football rather than the Premier League.
Ryan Fredericks - Possibly
Giancarlo Gallifuoco - Who?
Massimo Luongo - Few more loan spells before I judge
Ryan Mason - No, doesn't seem to have much about him.
Jake Nicholson
Dean Parrett - Doesn't seem to be improving at all.
Alex Pritchard
Andros Townsend - Yes, could be decent back up next season.
Jesse Waller-Lassen

Forwards
Simon Dawkins-No
Harry Kane - No, finishing is very poor and has no pace about him.
Cameron Lancaster - Possibly, haven't seen him alot but has something about him
Jon Obika-No
Kudus Oyenuga-No

Do you see a lot of academy games, Zigzag? Kane really surprised me, he scored bags of goals at the lower levels and in preseason so I thought he'd have far better striker's instincts but like Obika he just hasn't looked like taking the step up so far.
