Half-Time: Liverpool Reserves 0-2 Manchester United Reserves. Goals from Michael Keane and Jesse Lingard have given United a 2-0 lead at half-time. Keane gave United the lead when a free-kick from the left was played in, missed by all of the Liverpool defence and Keane poked home from 4 yards. Keane then turned provider as he played a long ball from the back and Lingard took it down and slotted it past Gulacsi. Big performance needed in the second half.
Was a poor goal to concede. Lingard went straight past our defence and slotted it home. Someone should have picked him up. The first was missed by everyone in the box... Not good. Both poor goals to let in. Rodolfo won't be happy. But to be honest, we haven't created anything.
2-1 now! Our first proper chance of the half and we are back in it. Adorjan plays the ball in from the right and N'Goo slots it home. Game on.
So close from Suso. He nicks the ball off a United defender, spins round one, sidesteps two more on the edge of the box and his curling shot goes just wide. Would have been a lovely goal!
Would be nice if Suso and the Teixeira boy actually come good. Would have 2 exciting AM's, would be lovely!
I'm looking forward to seeing Teixeira play. It's a shame he's got the back injury and won't play this season but hopefully we'll see his quality next season. Looked very good when we played Sporting Lisbon in the NextGen series.
Big chance... missed. N'Goo plays in a lovely ball from the left, Eccleston is free just to the right in the six-yard box and heads the chance across goal and it's cleared. And as i'm typing this, another chance. Eccleston played in and it's a superd tackle by De Leat to stop Eccleston getting the shot away.
2-2! Get in. Suso plays a lovely ball to Mendy who has pushed on from right-back, played in by him and Eccleston takes a touch and calmly puts it away.
Full-Time: Liverpool Reserves 2-2 Manchester United Reserves. A comeback from 2-0 down meant that Liverpool gained a point this afternoon at Kirkby. Manchester United were much better in the first half and went in 2-0 up after goals from Michael Keane and Jesse Lingard. Poor defending for both goals meant that United had control of the game going into the half-time break. Liverpool upped their game in the second half and Michael N'Goo levelled for Liverpool as he put away a cross from Adorjan on the right. Liverpool had chances to get back level but it took until the 91st minute to finally get that goal. Suso played a lovely ball to Mendy who had pushed on from right-back and he played a excellent ball to Nathan Eccleston who took a touch and slotted the ball into the corner of the net. Good point gained after a poor first half.
Well done to the lads - good spirit and comeback. Sterling wasn't in the squad - could be possibly be in the squad to face WBA.
