Brad Smith has played well tonight, goes unnoticed due to McLaughlin, but has really shone in this game.. The turn and cross for N'goo's goal was a touch of class.
Missed the game, but from what im seeing there were some good performances. Ibe wasnt playing. Possibly due some game time as a sub tomorrow? Hope so.
Frank been looking for you Yesil scored I see you know all about it! After what we were on about today!
Tex is such a talented player, but I never realized he's 21 now.. I'd like to see him get some game time from the bench at least as time is running out for him, he stands out at U21 level but we need players to start transferring it to senior level, so far he's been out on loan which got terminated after a few weeks..
He accepts the ball with opponents close by and still finds space to turn and pass which is something missing in a lot of the first team. Obviously it remains to be seen if he can do it at PL level. He looks like he could suit our current setup. Starts out wide but cuts in to let the FB overlap. Or at least he did with success tonight.
That can't be a bad thing. He's obviously been talking to Rogers as after the game he described himself as a 'false number ten' lol. So Coutinho as a real number ten, Suso who can go right of ten and Texiera left and centre.
Lol,I meant having some of that depth we keep dreaming of. We'll have to see if either can cut it in the first team first. So still dreaming
Well said - it's something that is lacking from our midfield. Henderson, Lucas and Gerrard are not comfortable when they're pressed and surrounded. We need more 'courageous' players in our first team - Suso, Tex and Alberto definitely fit the mould and I hope they can push on in the future.
I'd rather see us splash the cash and get someone in for now. If the youngsters are good enough, they will fight they way into the first team #creamrises
Not sure if it's been discussed but looks like we will be getting Pennock in to replace Borrell....Rodgers giving jobs to his mates??
Yep, heard about this. Also the academy manager at Coventry City left his post last week. Coincidence?
Pennock is the guy who brought the world Joe Allen and...........er..........Ben Davies isn't he? Quit last week so seems a fair bet, the local rumour mill says he's got/getting the job. I can't help but fear this is an almighty leap backwards.
Pennock and the Coventry City lad are both fully qualified (I think they have the highest level you can have in England/UEFA) so at least they have that! But I agree - you only have to look at the academy now and they style of football they player and some of the potential players coming through to see how good Borrell and McParland had done. And to do it within 4 years is remarkable - let's hope the new guys can continue the good work.
Yeah if it's a "rip it up and start again" scenario it really wouldn't make sense. It's the timing of it all mid-season that makes me think there's been a lot of **** going on behind the scenes.
