Youth Cup fixture change.

Liverpool Football Club said:

Liverpool have confirmed a date and venue change for their FA Youth Cup tie away to Swansea City next month.

The clash will now be played at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday, December 6, kick-off 7pm. Tickets can be purchased on the night upon arrival at the ground and will cost Â£5 for adults and Â£1 for concessions.

Reserves kick-off change...

Liverpool Football Club said:

Supporters should note that the kick-off of Liverpool Reserves final match of 2011 away at Fulham has been changed. The clash on Tuesday, December 20, will now kick-off at 2pm instead of 7pm, at Fulham's training ground Motspur Park.

Supporters should also be aware that the game will be a behind closed doors fixture.

Sterling and co out to tame Wolves...

Rodolfo Borrell is hoping his young side can continue their excellent league form when they take on Wolves at Telford United tonight (7pm). The Reds second string are unbeaten in their last four Barclays Premier League Reserve matches, including three wins against Chelsea, Bolton and Sunderland.

A young Liverpool XI is expected to take the field at Telford United FC tonight and the Black Country outfit could field several experienced first-team squad players in their ranks.

"Wolves have been using senior players in their reserve side and it will be a tough test for us," Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"Last week they were very strong when they fielded Fletcher, Elokobi, Guediora and Hammill, but there are no excuses from us and we are going to go out there, give our best and try to give a good performance. The lads are learning quickly because with just one mistake you can lose a game at this level. They are improving and getting better and better which is my target to get them ready so they can possibly play for the first team one day."

Borrell was also quick to praise the influence of Jay Spearing after the midfielder returned to his Academy roots last week to net twice in the 5-1 win over Sunderland.

"All the senior lads who played against Sunderland had a great attitude but I want to give a special mention to Jay Spearing who was outstanding," added Borrell.

"Everyone knows he has quality but it's his effort and positive attitude that impressed me. He was always talking to the young lads in the team and he was magnificent. Jay set them all an example showing them what they need to do if one day they get in the first team and then have to play for the reserves."

Nathan Eccleston scored twice against the Black Cats after returning from a loan spell at Rochdale, and Borrell is now hoping he can push on and show what he can do.

He added: "Nathan is a great player and he has a lot of quality. I have a great belief in him. He scored two excellent goals against Sunderland and I was happy with his performance."

We won 1-0 away to wolvwes tonight......Suso goal........A scrappy game according to the Rodolfo, but a wins a win. Learn to win the scrappy games!!! Havent watched the highlights yet... Will have a loook tomorrow

Suso sinks Wolves...

Liverpool Football Club said:

Spanish starlet Suso was on the mark as Liverpool Reserves maintained their excellent form with a 1-0 win at Wolves. Rodolfo Borrell's side were full value for the victory as they made it four wins out of their last five league games.

Jon Flanagan gave an impressive display during his 90 minute run-out in a central midfield role while Nathan Eccleston started in attack.

The match was played in difficult conditions with a narrow pitch but the young Reds showed great character and determination. Wolves went into the game on the back of two wins and one draw against Arsenal, but Borrell's charges did the club proud on the night.

Reflecting on the win, Borrell said: "It was a bit of a scrappy game but we scored a good goal and did well. The lads had to work hard against a physical side who played a lot of long balls, but we kept them out and this was a good victory for us."

Live football on Saturday...

Mike Marsh's side go into the game on the back of a brilliant Manchester double after beating both City and United on their travels.

Who would win at 'skill skool'?

That would be Kris Peterson or... me! I don't mean it like that, we are just the tricky players in the squad. I'm going to go for Kris because you can't pick yourself can you!?

If you could holiday anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Australia. It's a great country with lots to see. I'd make sure I went somewhere hot with a good beach. There's lots to see and do on the beach!

Last album downloaded?

Lil Wayne. It's well worth a listen.

Last film watched?

I can't remember... (long pause).

It could be on the TV or at the cinema...

My mind has just gone blank. I'm sure I watched one last night! I've got them all on my iPad as well... I've got it. Anchorman. A great film. Very funny. I like my comedies.

Favourite TV show?

Two and a Half Men. It was better with Charlie Sheen in it. Ashton Kutcher is okay but the best ones were when he was in it. I think he was funnier.

Worst dresser?

Let me see. (Kris Peterson and Ryan McLaughlin move to within earshot). Kris, who do you reckon worst dressed is? Pete (Aylmer)? (Peterson and McLaughlin both nod). Yes, definitely Pete.

Worst taste in music?

Pete... No, it's Baio. I'd put his iPod in the bin!

Best moment in football so far?

Scoring against Man United. It's such a big game to be involved in at any level so to get two in one match, with one in the last minute, was a real thrill.

Worst or most embarrassing moment relating to football...

I haven't really got an embarrassing one. I've never scored an own goal or anything like that. Getting knocked out of the U17 World Cup by Germany was disappointing so I'll say that.

Which three teammates would be the most useful to get trapped on a desert island with - and why?

Well, as they are standing right here, I'll say Ryan McLaughlin and Kris Peterson. Baio makes me laugh too.

If you could take one of the lads to have their haircut, who would it be?

Definitely Baio. I'd treat Pete as well, he needs his hair sorting out.

Teammate who spends longest in the mirror?

Baio loves flexing those muscles and Pete is in there too, (Looks at Peterson). No, wait a minute it's you by a mile Kris.

Best ever player in your position?

Lionel Messi. I watch him every week in the La Liga matches on Sky Sports. He's just incredible. I could watch him all day long. I'm always looking to learn and improve my game and if I can somehow pick up anything from watching Messi in action, then it can't be a bad thing, can it?

Best thing about playing for Liverpool FC?

Well I've grown up as a red and love the club. You can't beat being here. I'm really lucky and plan to make the most of every minute.

You face Stoke today. It's important to build on the two wins in Manchester by picking up the three points on home turf isn't it?

Yes, we've played really well in recent weeks. We've got a great record away from home and we need to start doing it here in Kirkby. Stoke will be a difficult test and we've got the Youth Cup match in a few days too, so it'd be good to set ourselves up for that by putting on a good show.

Reds frustrated by Stoke...

Liverpool U18s warmed up for the FA Youth Cup with a frustrating 0-0 draw with Stoke City at the Academy on Saturday afternoon. Mike Marsh's men had gone into the game on the back of two impressive victories in Manchester but could not kick-start their campaign on home soil as they struggled to break down a stubborn Potters rearguard.

The young Reds made a slow start and it was the visitors who almost stole in front inside five minutes when Jack Nardiello forced Tyrell Belford into a smart save.

The hosts responded and Adam Morgan saw a long-range effort deflect just wide before Josh Sumner warmed the palms of the Stoke 'keeper with a rising shot from 30 yards.

Liverpool dominated the remainder of the first 45 and Marc Pelosi was particularly impressive with some marauding runs down the left as they put pressure on the City defence without creating any real openings of note.

It was the same story following the interval and Morgan, substitute Raheem Sterling and Pelosi all had chances to break the deadlock.

The USA U17 captain then hit the post and Nathan Quirk blazed over from 10 yards as Marsh's charges were forced to settle for a share of the spoils ahead of the trip to Swansea City on Tuesday night.

Jonjo Shelvey hit a brace as Liverpool Reserves cruised to a superb 5-1 success at home to Wigan on Tuesday afternoon. The midfielder notched the Reds' first of a one-sided encounter early on before Krisztian Adorjan and Nathan Eccleston put the hosts well clear inside 20 minutes.

The Latics were stunned but did pull a goal back through Daniel Redmond to give themselves some hope heading into the interval. Shelvey then added a fourth following the break and Suso was also on target as Rodolfo Borrell's charges made it three league wins on the spin.

Swansea Under 18's Vs Liverpool Under 18's match summary...

It was a disappointing night for Liverpool U18s after they crashed out of the FA Youth Cup losing 3-1 to Swansea City on Tuesday night. Mike Marsh's charges were boosted by the inclusion of Raheem Sterling and Brad Smith in their starting line-up, but they were second best to Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

Two goals in two first half minutes put the Swans in control. Scott Tancock, from a free header, nodded the home side into the lead after 37 minutes and James Loveridge soon made it 2-0 with a spectacular finish.

Liverpool were then dealt a killer blow just after the restart with a bizarre goal that will in the future be a prime candidate for 'What Happened Next?' Joe Rafferty's attempted clearance from the left wing struck the boot of Jandir Zola and the ball ended up looping over Tyrell Belford and into the net.

Lewis Hatch scored a superb header right at the end to give the Reds some consolation but it was a night of frustration for the Reds youngsters.

Two live games this week...

Liverpool Football Club said:

Liverpool Reserves are in action on Thursday night when they travel to Manchester United in part one of a live double bill on LFC TV and LFC TV Online this week. Rodolfo Borrell's side are third in the Barclays Premier Reserve League North and United are leading the way at the top with Sunderland.

Join Claire Rourke from 6.30pm on Thursday night for the best build-up to the game and kick-off is at 7pm. Former Red David Fairclough will be in the commentary box.

Then on Saturday morning Mike Marsh's U18s hope to bounce back from the FA Youth Cup disappointment when they play their final game of 2011 against West Bromwich Albion. Kick-off at the Kirkby Academy is at 11am with our coverage starting at 10.30am.

anyone else think this year is a structural stretch for the under age levels?

We are making the reserves a U19 team effectively and its pulling kids up quick. we were not great in the old next gen nor the youth cup and i saw a lot of chrun in sides. does that matter? if players are gaining expereince its good but o nthe other hand if no settled formation and strucutre for bringing guys on is possible its bad.

all in all I'm hoping we settle down at under age level again and start to see the possibility of a kid playing for the firsts as he would know the system form youth level.

shelvey did well checking in but he's not going to play there is he? sterling will want a game within 3-6 months with the seniors as well.
