Cheers who is the next big thing to come out of your acadamy then? i always thought it whould be one of the two i have already said?
No problem mate Well there aren't any guarantees that we WILL have any academy graduates, we usually train talented youngsters and then ignore them (in favour of big money mediocrity) until they get fed up and leave. However the hype surrounding Raheem Sterling has basically forced the managements hand into probably giving him a bit part role this season (good for us). He's very fast, plays on the wings and extremely technically gifted. He's probably the only one that will break into the squad this year.
My apologies, Obviously not everyone agrees but if you don't think anyone was hyping him up for a spot in the Europa I suggest you read some threads from about a month ago. So I suppose that should have read "many of us thought". And no, Sterling hasn't really had much of a role in the first team yet, he's been on the bench and had one or two subs in the last ten minutes. Hopefully he will have some minutes this season!
Was just pulling your chain pal I have been saying that Suso has done it at youth levels and dominated a youth international tournament but so did Pacheco. Basically I'm not expecting anything from the lad, I think we should just see how it goes rather than expecting to see him in the first team. The coaching staff will do what is right for him. As much as I believe in 'if you're good enough, you're old enough', it is worth remember that Suso is only a kid too
But if he doesnt come through this seasom we will have every one telling us he is too old because Fabregas came through at 15...lol
all i wish to say is neither suso, nor sterling, nor even pacheco, ibe or n'goo can be considered "just kids" we have to remember these guys cost good money, and are paid way way more to come than an adam morgan for example. all i can say is someone needs to come thought o justify the investment soon. the europa is a great way to do this.... kelly made his debut as a sub for example ~(and looked terrible) in a dead CL game. suso and sterling for me are the two that must be pushed now to either come through of get the hell out fo the way of others coming up.... the pace of guys coming up to the u19/reserve level is amazing. We just sold silva and before that ince for exmaple and both will probably be prem players and 10mil+ so the two guys not sold had better come through. its not thier fault but lfc if nobody gets through.
Lol. no i cant find anything mate. You are more desperate for news than i am, fair play that takes some doing!!!
proper geek when it comes to LFC.......hate my job, wife takes all my money, rains all summer, not allowed to drink or anything else anymore....LFC is what I live for...... And lets be honest, Its all about the young guys coming through. Think because its behind closed doors we wont get anything until after the match.
Yep I agree with you mate it’s crazy how much my mood is affected by a Liverpool result. I wouldn’t have it any other way though
Spanish starlet Suso netted twice as Liverpool Reserves beat Huddersfield Town 2-0 in a pre-season friendly at the Academy on Wednesday. Rodolfo Borrell's squad featured eight youngsters who have just returned from being part of the first team tour to North America. Joining Suso in the starting XI were Daniel Pachecho, Andre Wisdom, Stephen Sama, Ryan McLaughlin, Krisztian Adorjan, goalkeeper Danny Ward and Jordon Ibe who came on as a second half substitute. Suso opened the scoring after combining with Michael Ngoo, and he added a second after the break after combining with Pacheco. Suso, Pacheco and Adorjan featured for an hour before being replaced by Marc Pelosi, Joao Carlos Teixeira and Marc Pelosi. Portugese ace Teixeira went close with a free-kick and Conor Coady hit the bar with almost the last kick of the game, and overall it was a very good display from Borrell's charges. Liverpool team: Danny Ward, Ryan McLaughlin (Jakob Sokolik 15), Brad Smith (Nacho 67), Stephen Sama, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady, Suso (Joao Carlos Teixeira 60), Craig Roddan, Michael Ngoo, Daniel Pacheco (Marc Pelosi 60), Krisztian Adorjan (Jordon Ibe 60).
Today, both the reserve side and the Under 18's had pre-season games scheduled against Huddersfield Town reserves and Rochdale Under 18's respectively. Here are the summary from those games: First of all, here is the summary of the reserves 2-0 victory over their counterparts from Huddersfield. And here is the summary from the Under 18's 4-2 victory over Rochdale Under 18's. More impressive pre-season results for the reserve and academy sides! Both sides have a 100% record so far this season and it's always good to get that winning mentality going into the new season. EDIT: I have only just noticed that both SJD & Bluff have posted the reserve match report before me. May need to read the previous posts in future before posting the match report after other people already posted it. At least people reading this thread will be in no doubt of the Liverpool/Huddersfield result...
