The Remaining Games

On the match thread, I said that I think we probably still need 12 points to even reach 6th.

Then I looked at the fixtures.

(These are not all the fixtures for BC; they won’t fit on one screenshot - their other game is against us).


A couple of glaring things. First, if we beat Boro, we will gain points on either Villa or Bristol City as they play each other. The other thing is how difficult Villa’s fixtures are with them still to play Norwich and Leeds. Finally, we have to play BC ourselves.

It does seem doable.

We’re running out of games but if we can keep winning, the gap HAS to close with looking at who the others are playing.

I realise I’ve ignored the teams between us and 6th.

Remaining fixtures...
Our max point tally is potentially 75. That means mathematically we can get more points than West Brom.
Looking at the remaining fixtures for the teams below WBA and our nearest challengers for a playoff place, and their relative positions above & below each team they play, we do appear to have a difficult challenge.
But - you never know !

At first I thought there’d been a mistake as WBA are not in the top 12, but checking the stats it’s looking like they could be bottling it. If we can sort our away form this looks like it could well be on as we have at least two teams in the top six in our sights.

Looking at those run ins, you would not be suprised if last night was our last points of the season. However, it is City. We have by far the hardest run in off all those teams. I had a tenner in November that we'll finish top half, I hope we do get a few results!

We aren't doing it. That top 6 is gonna remain as is. In a way, I'm glad, because promotion only means Allams staying.

Those six points we dropped in the three games we were 2-0 up in are what will cost us.

Oh, I have no faith in them ****ing off if we stay down, but if we go up it is 100% guaranteed they'll be here for several more years.

At least there's a chance of them going earlier if we are a Championship club.

Best case scenario for me.... we finish 7th, the twats recognise they're ****ed and should have sold on the other 17 occasions they had the opportunity. We get £20 million for Bowen, a sell on for Harry M of around another £6 million and someone with deep pockets has been watching HCAFC achieving with hands firmly tied behind their backs and thinks, if I buy the club for £20 million, ensure theres another £20 million available, persuade some of the staff to stay then that night not be such a daft investment, especially with seemingly no other debt.

We all know it's a long shot and know our chances are very slim because of the small margin for error we have but if and I know with our away from its a very big if, that after the Boro and WBA games we are within 3pts of the top six then many of us would take it a bit more seriously.
