Depends on his contract terms. As Temple said, if he is hired on a "promotion or sacked" basis, he will be sacked come the end of the season.

If he is allowed to stay on at the end of the season and rebuild for next season, he will be fine <ok>
 
The problem is that Slade is probably already running the show short of appearing on the touchline on match days. I hope that is not the case but fear it might be. I agree that the Young/Gabidon combo looks amateurish but can't help feeling that team selection and presumably tactics is down to Slade as implied by Wales Online. I would like to think that our new manager - baffling as his appointment might be - is given support but can't help feeling he has got off to a very mediocre start.

Whether or not he's the right bloke - and I think he'll be good for us - he will have 2 weeks to sort the men from the boys.

I have a slightly different view on our problem. We have lacked a purely defensive midfielder. None of Gunnar, Adeyemi and Whitts have fitted that role. As a result our back four have looked hopelessly exposed. Our centre backs were a shambles at Blackpool as their big, pacey front guys were able to come off our cb's, take the ball and turn and run at us with some speed. With a good defensive mf in front of them, they would have had a shield and become the second line of defence not the front line.

Unless Slade brings in someone on loan then Dikgacoi is the key to this. WoL alluded to him carrying an injury but we have all seen how out of shape and slow he has been in his limited playing time. We know from his time at Palace that he can do this job so the aim must be to get him fit pretty damn quickly and doing the job he is being paid for.

That in turn could release Whitts for more attacking duties where his skills can be put to better use.

Did you see him get booked on Friday for trying to foul but being too damn slow to make contact? Lol!!!
 
Bluey - the reason for that booking was one of the most obvious pieces proof I've seen of Whitts lack of pace.

Apart from having little speed over the ground when free running, his ability to get up to speed from a standing start over the first half dozen paces is woeful. If he can't beat a man with his quick feet when standing still (and he does possess that ability), he has no chance over the ground.

I'm sounding too much like total anti-Whitts, but I'm not. He has skill factors the equal to, and better than any other current City player. He's just not cutting it at the moment without someone else alongside him to inject sheer physical pace. He needs a runner alongside him as well as in front of him. That's when Whitts will deliver.

Only an opinion of course.
 
" The Real Solution " isnt having managers coming and going , midseason , by a chairman who has total control without a clue what to do with that control ...... Its the real problem , being caught between a rock and a hard place with needing Tans money and having to "Except " whatever he decides he wants to do .
 
Thank you for that deep observation Breezy, but blaming an owner for the team's performances to date this season is pretty pathetic. You can trace all things back to him if you have a mind to, even good stuff like getting us to the Prem could be included eh? - alongside the s**t we and he's taken in the process now that we're not there.

Rather than trying to get too involved in that, we're trying to discuss the game on the pitch that we're experiencing, not the politics off it.

You can say the one affects the other if you like, that's your shout, but an owner 6,000 miles away has little to do with the immediate crap being put out on the park for us to watch.
 
Your owner could be in another universe , but to pretend hes is not responsible for whats happening with all decisions , mostly bad , to protect your almighty cash flow as your debt rises sits alone in the "Pathetic " realm of things .
 
I was seething on friday night watching that bunch of clowns.

As usual more questions than answers:

Can anyone now justify the inclusion of Whittingham and Gunnarrsson in the same team?

Why did OGS buy Le Fondre?

Why was Daehli not on the pitch?

Why was Ralls stuck out on the left?

What was K Jones doing in midfield?

Surely Joe Mason has to come back?

Why did OGS buy Morrison from Reading?

How is Noone so unfit? He is miles away from the pace.

Where the 'eck is Dikajcoi?

What about the forgotten men - Kim, Burgstaller, Eikrem, Guerra - where are they; they couldn't have done as poor a job as the rabble masquerading as City players at Blackpool?

etc, etc, etc.....

These City players give the impression they just don't care; that has change to stop the fans drifting.

This league is bonkers; every team has a chance come kick off time against any opposition. City need to get some winning mentality and passion back before it's too late.

My, you're an arrogant man aren't you OldSparkey? You may not agree with the poster's comments and he may even irritate you (doesn't take much when Tan is mentioned I've noticed as you seem to have some sort of weird affection for the guy) but to tell visitors to "stay off" a thread entitled "The Real Problem" is, to use your word, pathetic.

I appreciate your feelings are that the 'real problem' is on the pitch but if others disagree then leave them do so provided they're not rude or insulting rather than behave like a bloody dictator. The poster's comments were not exactly off topic - you just became irritated by his reference to Tan. Again.

See nothing's changed here so I won't be popping back for a while <wild-cheers-smiley>
 
There's no argument Breezey. We understand what your saying and I'm not attaching any motive to you expressing your opinion either. We are aware of the problems we have off the pitch.

This thread is about what we need to do on the pitch, so thanks for the "good luck" message and we'll see how we go.

In the meantime, Slade needs to pick out about 20 players from what we've got who can pull it together, and ship out the other dozen or so in January. It's that basic.
 
Thank you for your opinion of me as well Aussie. Unlike Breezy who at least holds an honest opinion and disagrees without getting personal, you are a rodent.

I asked him to stay off the thread with his opinions that wander off matters on the pitch. I'm glad you wont be popping back for a while. <f**ing big cheers smiley>

tan is an unpredictable beast, but its just lazy to blame the recent poor form on his media outbursts.

he made a mistake in hiring OGS, and gave him extensive funds to build the best squad in the division. footballing wise i've not been able to watch recent matches due to geographical reasons, but i highly doubt slade is the man to solve our problems.

it seems harsh to say that as he's only been here 2 minutes, but from the outside looking in, would it be fair to say the squad are unmotivated, disinterested, and unfit? surely you need someone with a track record to come in and command respect straight away? its a strange appointment tbh&#8230;..
 
Actually thats not true sparky but no big deal.I started posting on the 2nd page and didnt see your actual article from the title and was eager to let you boys know what the real problem was . Its only after getting **** I figured out what was going on . But seeing there is a topic , 3 managers in a short period of time dictates the "Real problems on the pitch ", no matter what players makes up the squad .

Too easy to blame Tan for every single thing, and it is a fallback for those wanting to create an agenda. Ole bought his players, made poor decisions, and has been moved on. Every owner in the Championship would have sacked Ole.

How the players have reacted since Ole was let go has been extremely disappointing. Instead of wanting to impress a new boss coming in, they have been sloppy, uninterested, and look like they don't know each other's names.

Breezey, you are a broken record who doesn't read what people are saying, but just write whatever you want to say. You must be a poor communicator.
