Your not alone on this one I often walked from Chues chinkers along past lord line past the insurance building and along to the footbridge that took you near ice arena Then onto pier and further up to marina A great walk now fenced of You could walk along there and have a natter with the old boys about the docks in times gone by I did take a few photos of the walk along there and posted them on a well known video site under BLACK DYKE MILLS BAND CORNET CARRILON (Boomboombeattie) I am sure it was part of the trans pennine walk I saw a few dedicated walkers alon g there in my time Bloody sad mate
It's fenced off as they're demolishing the Marr buildings in a couple of weeks, it will open again later.
just an update on the Midland St theatre that Sam Allon is supposedly knocking down. No operandis mendi to report. Strange though for whatever reasons to demolish half of It and then down tools. There are however Men working in the Interior spaces of the "New York" each day. But the façade is still there. No sign of any workmen reshaping the City Centre yet or the footbridge.
Apologies if this has been covered further up..... thats a prime river front site, what have they got planned to replace those iconic flour mills. It's a shame they didn't follow precedents elsewhere around the country..
Going off topic met a mate of Fred's on North sea ferries a few years ago, the guy was over 80 and still riding a motorbike and camping. Told us loads of funny stories about the things they got up to. Sadly got too drunk to remember them in detail.
Actually, that looks far far better than I was expecting! I'm hoping they put a sky lounge type bar up on the top level....
Another solid, characterful building goes. Took a photo of that area recently which now looks kind of elegaic.
What's happening to the old pub building on the corner on Great Union St? The antiques/reclamation business seems to be carrying on. Is the new hotel going to be built round it?
That's the route, there was something peaceful biking along now deserted areas that was once a thriving hub of industry and yes I thought it was part of the Trans Pennine Route. Now this is all mainly closed off I go west instead and bike along Hessle Foreshore up to and past Ferriby parallel with the main railway line. It carries on even further than Ferriby but that is for another day.
