The club have already confirmed that the ship is steadied and financial stability has returned. We took a risk on Rafa with the finances and it paid off.

The Mag (as is the norm for them sadly) have taken the stance this is some plot by Ashley to give a reason why money won't be spent, conning the fans along the way. Its the height of stupidity in my opinion and why I consider the publication as an anti Newcastle United waste of space.

I love their lazy analysis to fit some warped anti Ashley agenda though. The accounts are produced by the accountants following accountancy standards. They are ignoring that it is illegal to produce false accounts. I assume for an organisation like ours its one of the top firms in the UK who has produced them, rather than some Mickey Mouse accountant happy to play along with Ashley's sinister agenda. They will have been independently audited and all of the information in them will have been of great interest to the HMRC at the moment.

I'd imagine with accounts of this nature there will have been all manner of solicitors, accountants, and tax experts involved to ensure we are clean as a whistle with regard to what we produce. Yet we are supposed to believe some amateur anti Ashley basher that we've cooked the books, over the years these professionals spent studying for the appropriate qualifications. I accept that some of these professionals end up using said qualifications for bad purposes, but they tend not be operating so brazenly in the public domain Maybe I'm wrong and NUFC is the new Enron. They are doing this right under the noses of the HMRC.

I'm sure the Mags response to the above would be, "ah but technically they've done nothing wrong, however they've chosen an avenue that suits his agenda"

    Righto dickheads...

More positive news coming out of the Ronnie this afternoon...

    https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...ws/rafa-benitez-holds-positive-talks-14685846

Rafa Benitez has told Newcastle United chiefs he has no intention of walking away from St James’ Park this summer.

We understand that positive discussions have taken place between Benitez and the club hierarchy following a week of uncertainty since the campaign ended.

A competitive transfer budget is in place, but Benitez knows he may have to shave the club’s wage bill if he wants to bring in more high-profile targets this summer.

Again I stress, its not over until its signed on the dotted line but it's all sounding more positive today.

    So,

Have we done the same in years gone by or is this the first time and, if so, why?

Also, do we still pay all the fee up front? Or has that been abandoned years ago?

    <cheers>

    Agree save for two.

Atsu I think is okay given the price we paid for him. Likewise Joselu for the same reason. If you're paying peanuts don't expect to get in "worldies".

Does it matter when the questions are posed off the back of some numbskulls musings?

I'd imagine we pay up front. I doubt we pay in installments very often but I suppose we may have had to in recent times when we have had to take a financial hit due to relegation.

No creative accounting has took place in the past or the present.

    Hope this helps.

Agree with that bar a few. Hayden who I think is gash and he didn't do much in the Championship. He's done nothing in the PL and I assume he was bought because we thought he could develop into a very useful holding midfielder. He hasn't.

So 7 hits and 7 misses, a meh and two undecideds.

Diame is a difficult one to assess. Miss for 75% of his time with us but the 25% was very important.

Ok well I'm glad I answered it then. I worry about you. When The Mag is your source of information, its time to see what other treatments may be able to help with your condition.

This is what I posted a couple of weeks ago.

This set of accounts was for the year in which we actually got relegated and it makes reference to the transfer dealing of Sissoko and Gini being paid in installments POST YEAR END (over 4 years). This means that the accounts for the year ended 30 June 2017 include these sales but will be offset with the reduction in revenue for the year.

Let me draw your attention to note 17 where it states the bank balance went from 44 million in 2015 to an overdraft of just over 2 million in 2016. This being the result of Mcclaren splashing the cash . Now, coming back to the fact that the installments of the Sissy and Gini transfers are over 4 years you can see why we have not spent much money. It just isnt there.

In addition, note 18 states that there was an amount of £28 million due to be paid for player additions within 12 months of 31 June 2016. This meant that along with the hit of relegation, and the installments of the Sissy and Gini money being over four years, there was an additional £28 million to fork out on players bought in 2016. This is before any of Rafas purchases in 2017.

Now if you factor in that Rafa spent approx 40 million plus to get us back in the premiership (and I suspect we probably have this outflow over a couple of years) you can see that we will potentially be at breaking point from a cash flow perspective.

I suspect the accounts for the year ended 31 July 2017 show a mega loss and potentially a significant/almost catastrophic cash flow issue. Things will have improved since then (I hope) but when these accounts get published any hopes of Ashley getting £400 million IMHO is purely comical. The technical value of the balance sheet of the business will almost certainly be break even at best. So the value of the club is technically worthless.

    I was not far away.

I suspect the accounts for the year ended 31 July 2017 show a mega loss and potentially a significant/almost catastrophic cash flow issue.

But positive signs coming out from all of this. How are we valued at £400 million?????

Whilst I agree, how much did we pay for Lascelle's?

I'm sure the combined fee for him and Darlow was about £7m. Turned out to be a very important move by messrs Carr and Pardew. I don't think Darlow has worked out brilliant but Lascelles more than makes up for that. People will point to Joselu being a forward but Carr/Pardew paid £2m for Perez and he contributes a lot. We had Demba Ba on a free and Ben Arfa at £5m. It can be done. Generally I would agree that you get what you pay for but I don't think Joselu is an example of that. He is rubbish and we got completely duped for £5m.

Fairly sure I read somewhere at the time that Perez was a signing that had no Carr input. A rare Pardew highlight, but credit where it is due.

Stoke would have been laughing all the way to the bank when we offered them £5m....

Reminds me of that time someone paid £30m for Sissoko but not as good a deal.

Hayden at 4m was a hit I'd say. Was oryt in champ and actually put a few solid games in earlier in the season, that were oddly spaced by one ****ing awful game every time. Would get 4m if we sold now I reckon.

In fact alot of the misses made, or will make, their money back. I know he's made some **** signings in his time, but no more than other managers.

His **** signings here have been Manquillo and Joselu, which in context I accept, and Lazaar who was pointless in the end.

Atsu's a hit for the 6 points he got us against West Ham this season alone. Murphy I'll keep schtum on for now mind.

Yep, that's the new head scout Steve Nickson who was responsible.

But this is merely a statistic and I join Pouchy in ignoring Riviere, Haidara, Yanga-Mbiwa, Cabella, Saivet, De Jong and the rest when I talk about how easy it is to get value for money.

Also inflation doesn't exist so, seriously Joselu, why aren't you Ben Arfa?
