I would have thought an Arsenal win would be better, means you pretty much guaranteed a CL place. (again, assuming you beat Villa)
You then have 7 more games to worry about catching Arsenal and City. Have you played Arsenal and City twice now?

No, we play City at home after Villa and then Arsenal is end of season.

Logic says Arsenal beat Liverpool and it puts them to bed but the devil in me wants to keep them in it.

We still have to play both Arsenal and City at OT, but also Chelsea away.

I'd probably take the draw - if we beat Villa and they draw then Liverpool will essentially be eight points behind us when you consider their **** GD and with only seven games to play. We'll also be ahead of Arsenal, with a home game against them still to come.

Would never want a Liverpool win - after we crushed them at the weekend there's no chance we want them to start building up any hope of getting back into the top four. Just increases the pressure on us, with three games against other top four sides still to come.

Yeah, logic says Arsenal to win and Liverpool out of it but I don't see Liverpool winning increasing the pressure on us as long as we beat Villa.

If anything the race for fourth become between those two so increases the pressure on them, we're then in a battle for second with City as we play them next.
Depends on our aspirations, are we battling Liverpool for fourth or City and Arsenal for second?

For me it's the latter, **** fourth.

It would make sense to look up, beat Villa and then it's head to head with City.

Indeed it is, therefore, end of season.

Absolutely we're battling for second and that's the goal, assuming Chelsea do enough to keep 1st out of reach.

But equally we have to guard against the risk, however small, of Liverpool (or Spurs and Saints for that matter) putting together a strong end of season run and us dropping points to Chelsea and City and possibly others.

My view is we don't want Arsenal to win, as we are fighting them for second place.
We don't want Liverpool to win as that could help them put some form together

Ergo draw is what we want.

I don't think we can take anything for granted. The best scenario is for us to beat villa and for Arsenal to win. If the RS are out of the way we can focus on 2nd and 3rd. We still have to play city and arsenal so that we can still dictate that side of things.

The most important thing by along distance is to get 4th.

A draw because it will stop Arsenals momentum too. Finish the weekend in third, 2 points behind City.

Pretty confident we will beat City and Arsenal. Of the games left Chelsea remains the only one you would not expect is to win.

Obviously we wont win all 8 but 6 wins, 1 draw and a defeat seem possible. 19 points and finish on 78. Should be enough for second place.

I see the spuds getting 5, Saints getting 6th so that leaves Liverpool back to 7th

I mean this in as nice as possible way as it can possibly come out... but if United finish 2nd in the premier league this year it will really go down as one of the poorest quality premier league seasons in history. Though the same could be true of whoever finishes 2nd I suppose.

Ah yes. The old, if United finsh above others the league was poor, routine.

The league is poor this season regardless of who finishes where. Nobody has been great and most have been poor in long spells.

Too many clubs in transition right now.
