Its a debate worth having. I think he is immensely overrated. Whenever he plays in a back 4 he exposes himself a lot more. Especially when he runs forward. Gets the luxury of an extra defender to paper over his cracks in a back 3.

The free kick stat isn't made up either.

Suppose he makes a good cheerleader.

Really? He had a blinder yesterday and got Motm on BT stream although Kante was great and is a mini Makelele world class player.

He's a ball playing Centre Half, comfortable anywhere in the pitch. It's the fashion nowadays. That Alderwereweewerild bloke's similar, and everybody will have one soon. The Huth and Morgan "Night Club Bouncer" CB pairing is a thing of the past, apparently.

Our equivalent is Vertonghen - really skilful player. Alderweireld is an old fashioned Centre-half, albeit one of the best around.

That's a fair point. Players do excel in certain formations more than others though and till it became a back 3 your team was hit and miss early on.

Spot on Bluey, I understand why you rate Luiz as we discussed yesterday. My post on Toby is not a wum, he's top class and also part of a mean defence which deserves accolades too.

The Poch block is very good but it will only get you so far.

Their muscular physical gegenpress does not work at top level where guile and creativity are needed. See CL
